Voyagers Class 220 and 221
Built to replace LCHS on Cross-Country services.220 are non-tilt whilst 221 type are built to tilt as required.Arriva-XC operate the majority of these trains with Virgin retaining some for use on the WCML.
Arriva-XC Voyager 221135 is viewed at Parson Street in the western outskirts of Bristol working '1V48' the 07:45 from York to Plymouth.
..5 september 2023..
Arriva-XC Voyager 220005 speeds non-stop through Dawlish Warren with '1V52' the 07:01 from Edinburgh to Plymouth.Note the Camping Coaches still in position up near the Warren Station.
..4 september 2023..
Voyager 221141 forms '1O11' the 11:25 from Manchester-Piccadilly as it approaches its Basingstoke stop.
..10 august 2023..
One of the incredibly boring Arriva-XC Voyagers,220027 is seen at Worting Junction with 1Z38' the 09:45 from Bournemouth going only as far as Didcot-Parkway due to the line to the North from there is closed because of the defective bridge over the River Thames nr Culham.
..30 may 2023..
Here is a double-Voyager 220027/220033 working '1V56' the 07:48 from Glasgow bound for Plymouth.Seen passing Engine Common north of Yate. Its hard to believe these 'things' have now been operating now for over 20 years--annoying isn't it!
..6 august 2022..
A 9-car Voyager comprising one of each type,4-car 220028 and 2211332 of the 5-car variety formed '1V60' the 08:20 from Aberdeen to Totnes.Seen speeding through Berkley Marsh is the late evening sunshine.Shame it wasn't an HST!
..3 september 2021..
Double Voyager combination 220028/221140 make up '1V54' the 08:08 from Edinburgh to Totnes. This diversion coming this way via Westbury because of the Bristol-TM blockade today.Viewed at Master's Crossing nr Fairwood.
..3 september 2021..
This is the diverted Arriva-XC '1E67' 15:27 from Plymouth to Leeds. It was made up from 2 4-car V-gers 220033 & 220026.Seen shortly after passing Clink Road junction in Frome. Unit numbers gleaned from Real Time Trains. The miniture set-numbers these days on these units are impossible to read when the train is passing at speed. It is made even more difficult when the numbers are completely filthy as in this case!
..10 august 2021..
With the Bristol-TM blockade continueing Arriva-XC services to the West are coming via Westbury.here is '1V56' the 07:48 from Glasgow to Penzance.Just a single 5-car V-ger 221137 on this very long distance service.Seen at Heywood near Westbury travelling West.
..10 august 2021..
This Arriva-XCClass 220 makes a comparatively rare appearance here at Fairwood at Lamberts Bridge working what is presumably a crew route refreshing trip. Here is 220003 with '5C41' running from Bristol-Temple Meads to Bristol Barton Hill via Westbury and Taunton.A few days earlier another of these 'learners' d9id the same journey but in the opposite direction!
..23 june 2021..
A pair of Class-220 'Vomit-Comet' Arriva-XC Voyagers passes a rather russet coloured Standish-Junction running exactly to time with '1V54 the 09:35 from Newcastle going only as far as Bristol-Temple Meads.
..10 november 2019..
Voyager 220019 works '1S45' the 06:30 from Penzance to Morpath in Northumberland up through Frome on diversion between Taunton and Bristol-TM due to a weekend engineering possession at Flax Bourton. All very mundane but a bit of a change from the endless Class-800 type plastic roller skates!
..28 september 2019..
Arriva-XC's palidromic Voyager 5-car 221122 passes Standish Junction heading north with '1S43' the 06:30 from Plymouth to Edinburgh.
..24 august 2019..
This shot is just a reminder of the majority of Arriva-XC services through Bristol are operated by the largely ignored 'Voyagers'.This one 221127 seems to be showing off its Virgin origins with its red roof being quite prominent! It was working '1S43' the 06:35 from Pemzance to Glasgow-Central. The journey time for this train being nearly 12 hours.Just imagine being stuck on one of these for that length of time.I feel quite sick!
..5 july 2019..
Here is a reminder of the type of trains used on the main trains from the north to Bournemouth look like. Here is the 'palindromic' 221122 5-car Voyager passing through Millbrook just west of Southampton-Central working '1O14' the 10:27 from Manchester-Piccadilly bouind for Bournemouth. These used to be my most disliked 'Units' but the GWR Class-800's have now taken over that title by a mile!
..27 june 2019..
This is the view of the Causway from Redbridge Wharf on the River Test Estuary.Voyager 221-xxx is passing working '1M50 'the 12:45 from Bournemouth going up to Manchester-Piccadilly.
..27 june 2019..
With the Bristol to Taunton line closed this weekend these Arriva-XC workings are again seen in Westbury. Here is 221134 passing Fairwood on the approach to Westbury with '1S47' the 09:25 from Plymouth to Glasgow-Central.
..24 march 2019..
Arriva-XC Voyager 220023 runs on to the bridge over the River Avon at Eckington past all the neatly parked motor-cruisers there. The train being '1V59' the 14:05 from Manchester-Piccadilly going to Paignton.
..10 october 2018..
Arriva-XC Voyager 221129 rattles through Dawlish under a quite moody sky given the superb weather the south of the UK has been experiencing lately. It is working '1S45' the 09:25 from Plymouth going to Edinburgh. The leg from Edinburgh to Aberdeen was cancelled due to a crewing issue ??????
..18 july 2018..
Arriva-XC operated 5-car Voyager 221128 gets away from Southampton-Central working '1O12' the 09:27 from Manchester-Piccadilly to Bournemouth.
..18 april 2018..
Often totally ignored but still an intergrel part of todays rail scene the Voyagers continue to work with annoying reliability even though it is now well over 15 years since they took over from the venerable old Class-47's on XC duties. This is 5-car 221134 in its current Arriva-XC guise passing non-stop through Cholsey in the Thames Valley with '1O16' the 11:27 from Manchester-Piccadilly to Bournemouth service.Time is a great healer but even now I still don't really like them very much! ..5 april 2018..
Arriva-XC service '1O16' the 11:27 from Manchester-Piccadilly bound for Bournemouth speeds through Cholsey in the Thames-Valley.This 4-car being 220029.
..12 february 2018..
Arriva-XC's 221136 speeds through Millbrook with '1M46' the 11:45 from Bournemouth heading for Manchester-Piccadilly.Note that this 'V-ger' is currently running as a '4-car' instead of as a '5-car' as originally built for some reason.Trains along this stretch of line towards Bournemouth were pretty sparse today as industrial action by the RMT-Union was taking place on 'South Western Railway' in a dispute about 'Single Man operation of Trains'.
..10 january 2018..
Arriva-XC's 5-car 221129 passes non-stop through Dawlish Warren working '1V46' the 06:20 from York to Plymouth.
..16 september 2017..
With the red sandstone cliffs forming a colourful backdrop 220019 4-car Voyager traverses the Dawlish seawall section working '1M41' the 10:06 from Paignton going up to Manchester-Piccadilly.
..16 september 2017..
An unidentied (not that it matters much) Class-221xx Voyager rattles past the practically empty and deserted Millbrook-inland Container Terminal with '1M54' the 13:45 from Bournemouth going up to Manchester-Piccadilly.Not long now before the blandness of these Units is easily purpassed by the soon to be introduced IEP's on the GWR!
..6 july 2017..
To finish off todays photography a quick scan of RTT showed an Arriva-XC HST was due nr Taunton quite shortly and with the sun finally coming out for long periods it was decided to picture it here at Banklands just north of Cogload-Junction.Much to my disgust it turned out to be 5-car V-ger 221112 instead. This departed Glasgow at 09:00 this morning with a final destination on Penzance running as '1V58'. Can you imaging what it must be like in one of these uncomfortable noisy 'tin-cans' for the duration of that journey (12hrs).No HST as advertised on RTT, the customers deserved better and this isn't it!
..13 may 2017..
4-car non-tilt type Voyager 220031 speeds past Croome Perry Wood with '1V52' the 06:01 from Glasgow-Central going down to Plymouth. An occasional shot of these much disliked DMU's is taken particularly went the background colours are as good as this!
..7 november 2016..
Voyager 220008 approaches Wallers Ash Loop at Weston with '1O18' a somewhat truncated XC service running only from Didcot-Parkway (1525 off) to Bournemouth. This is due to the route north via Oxford being closed for several weeks for major engineer work.
..06 august 2016..
An unidentified 5-car Arriva-XC Vomit-Comet (Not that anybody cares anyway!) passes Ram-Hill on the approach to Coalpit-Heath with '1V79' the 14:07 from Manchester-Piccadilly going down to Paignton in Devon.
..09 april 2016..
Due to circumstances beyond my control like 'clouds' the main event from the east here at Malago-Vale in the suburbs of Bristol, the Portbury bound GBRF-Gypsum working with 66708 in charge passed in rather dull conditions hence this very poor substitute! It is an Arriva-XC Rollerskate 220015 working '1V47' the 08:07 Manchester-Piccadilly service to Paignton.Nowt else to say really!
..16 march 2016..
Voyager 221121 rattles and vibrates its way past Bristol Barton Hill-WRD shortly after commencing its run as '1M37' the 11:00 away from Bristol-Temple Meads heading for Manchester-Piccadilly.Note this 221-unit still retains the shield shaped scar on the nose where the 'Virgin' badge was removed when this Arriva-XC Franchise came into being in 2007 (9 years ago).If nothing else it proves the durability of the high visibility yellow paint applied to the front ends!
..28 january 2016..
Because of a fatality at Highbridge due to some unfortunate simply stepping off the platform in front of an Arriva-XC service (Believed to be '1S47') all services between Bristol and Taunton have been diverted via Westbury. Here is what appears to be an Arriva-XC ECS from Bristol going south past Fairwood-Junction nr Westbury.221133 being the Unit. This particular train did not appear in the RTT-lists!
..22 october 2015..
Arriva-XC operated 220033 gets away from Oxford with the 11:27 from Manchester-Piccadilly going only as far as Southampton-Central.Note the old permanant-way relic of Oxford's more illustrious past in the foreground.
..26 september 2015..
4-car non-tilt Voyager 220025 leaves Oxford going eventually to Southampton-central with '1O82' the 06:16 from Leeds.
..26 september 2015..
Vomit-Comet Arriva-XC V-Ger 221134 speeds through a deserted and neglected Pilning working '1V59' the 14:07 from Manchester-Piccadilly going to Cardiff-Central.This extra service only ran today because of the World Cup Rugby match happening in Cardiff today.
..19 september 2015..
Panidromic-Voyager 220022 rattles past Parson Street in the western suburbs of Bristol as the cloud banks from the west continue to increase bringing to an end the 2-hours photographic session here at Malago-Vale.This working was '1S45' the 09:25 from Plymouth going all the way to Aberdeen, arriving there at 20:46.A total journey time of over eleven hours.I wonder just how many passengers from Plymouth go all the way and if so do they need to be stretchered off this sad apology for a long distance train at the final destination?
..28 august 2015..
Although 'Voyagers' are pretty much universally hated and largely ignored I like to included a shot occasionally along with DMU's to give a more balanced view of todays railway scene. Its not all GM's and Heritage Diesels that some websites give the impression of! So here is Arriva-XC V-ger 220020,one of the non-tilting 4-car versions running through Eastleigh on '1O82' the 06:16 service from Leeds going only as far as Southampton.Note the sad state of the permanant-way here with its rampant Buddleia Bushes.
..22 august 2015..
V-ger 5-car 221138 runs down past Burton-on-Trent on'1V96' the 15:05 from Newcastle to Reading.Note the track here is flanked by both the most unloved plants/trees in the UK .Rampant 'Buddleia Davidii' on the left whilst to the right is a row of very fast growing 'Laylandii'.Both are effectively Weeds!
..31 july 2015..
A double Arriva-XC Voyager comprising 5-car 221121 plus and unidentified 220+++ is seen approaching Burton-on-Trent from the north. It is '1V64' the 13:06 from Edinburgh going all the way down to Plymouth.
..31 july 2015..
Voyager 221110 heads a 10-car combo as it tilts through the curve at Old Linslade. The train is '1R21' the 06:39 from Shrewsbury into Euston. These V-gers look much more attractive in this their original Virgin Livery than those that work the Cross-Country routes for Arriva-XC through Birminham down to the South-West.Not that I like them much anyway you understand!
..31 july 2015..
One of the non-tilt 4-car pieces of Arriva-XC Plastic from within the 220+++ number-range speeds down through Church Fenton-Junction going to Plymouth all the way from Glasgow. The reporting number being '1V66'.Since these Voyagers received the modified front-end fairings similar to those on the EMT-Meridians the much smaller set numbers are now virtually impossible to read. Not that anybody really cares,I certainly don't!
..18 april 2015..
An anonymous Class-221 5-car Voyager speeds south through Church Fenton with '1V64' the 13:09 from Edinburgh going all the way to Plymouth. It can't be much fun going backwards in a cramped aircraft-seat next to a bulkhead particularly for the full distance that take nearly nine hours to complete. Arriva-XC should actually pay its passengers for this torture not the other way round!
18 april 2015..
With the purpose of this visit to Yate-Common north of Bristol (A GM coming from Bescot heading for Moreton-on-Lugg hauling a selection of ex-NP wagons in either blue/white or schenker-red) passing in the dull this is the poor substitute.Vomiter-220009 leans through the curve here with '1V53' the 11:07 from Manchester-Piccadilly going only as far as Bristol-TM.
..24 february 2015..
Voyager 221121 stands in Platform-3 at Bristol Temple Meads about to depart (11:00 off) for Manchester Piccadilly with '1M37'.Interestingly the FGW-HST's of which very many run into and through this station never seem to use this part of the layout under the superb overall roof..Only Arriva-XC and FGW-DMU's seem to have that privilege!
..19 february 2015..
With the percieved prospect of a bit of mid-morning sun a trip to Westbury Station was made to record a couple of the diverted XC Voyagers and HST's in unfamilier surroundings.Naturally the BBC cocked up again as usual but I took the shots anyway! Pictured is 5-car Voyager 221137 on '1S49' the 10:25 from Plymouth going to Edinburgh. Here it is passing through Westbury platforms non-stop whilst '1Z18' the 10:10 from Plymouth (Which the XC service followed all the way from Devon) waits time before departing a few minutes later going to Paddington. This Ex-Works Power-Car was 43176 and the driver was a rather charming lady with a nice smile!
..01 february 2015..
Arriva-XC non-tilt 4-car Voyager 220010 passes Ram-Hill in the northern suburbs of Bristol with '1M45' the 13:00 from Bristol-Temple Meads going to Manchester-Piccadilly.
..29 december 2014..
Also diverted due to engineering works nr Winchester were the Arriva-XC services. Here is '1O08' the 07:27 from Manchester-Piccadilly heading for Bournemouth. This Unit 221126 is one of the 5-car versions that has had the buffer fairing modifications similar to that on the 'Meridian' variant.A by-product of this work is the identity numbers are now even less visible to read as they pass by.(Not that anybody really cares!). The working is seen passing the small station of Mottisfont & Dunbridge at speed as it heads south.
..01 november 2014..
This large piece of Plastic 221138 formed '1V58' the 09:00 from Glasgow originally going to Penzance, however it was terminated due to crewing issues at Plymouth. It is seen here departing Dawlish Station under a Simpson type Sky.
..23 august 2014..
Love them or hate them Voyagers are still part of the everyday current railway scene so occasionally are worth a picture or two. Here is 4-car 220011 on the Arriva-XC service----'1O04' the 05:11 from Manchester-Piccadilly going to Bournemouth.I wonder how much bigger those Buddleia Bushes will be allowed to grow before somebody makes an effort to have them removed?
..12 june 2014..
Voyager-XC 220019 heads north through Norton Fitzwarren with '1M41' the 10:07 from Paignton going to Manchester-Piccadilly.This particular 4-car Class-220 having not yet received its modified front-end buffer arrangement yet.In the distance can be seen a preserved '08' Shunter with a couple of guards-vans giving rides around the West Somerset Railways recently opened Triangle.
..26 april 2014..
'1S45' the diverted 09:23 from Exeter to Aberdeen (What a long way in a Bean-Can!) today was an Arriva-XC 5-Car Voyager 221138.Here it it viewed approaching Westbury at Fairwood. Well it was worth a shot seeing as one of these 221's is hardly regular traffic through here in normal circumstances
..25 february 2014..
The purpose of my visit here at Yate Common in the northern outskirts of Bristol was to picture the GBRF hauled 'Biomass' from Ironbridge going to Portbury.Unfortunately the gathering clouds as seen in this view screwed that shot up so I had to settle for this very poor 2nd prize! 220030 rolls past Yate with '1V53' the 11:07 from Manchester-Piccadilly going only as far as Bristol.Seen under a quite dramatic sky.
..04 november 2013..
Like it or lump it the Voyager's are still part of the everyday railway scene and occassionally are still worthy of the odd picture! So here is 220023 working '1V51' the 10:07from Manchester Piccadilly going only as far a Bristol-TM.Thats still much further than I would prefer to travel in one of these cattle trucks! Standish-Junction sets the scene with the V-ger taking the route to the west.
..10 october 2013..
Vomit-Comet 221141 lurches up past Kings Sutton with the 16:45 '1M66' service from Bournemouth going to Manchecter-Piccadilly.
..19 july 2013..
Barely 2 minutes after a local stopping service had departed the station here at Bramley this working came flying through at full line speed! Somewhat surprising but all signals were obviously set to green.Arriva-XC Voyager 220016 was forming the 11:27 from Manchester-Piccadilly going to Bournemouth as '1O16'.
..01 june 2013..
4-car V-ger Vomit-Comet 220026 heads north past Radley with '1M70' the 17:45 from Bournemouth going the Manchester Piccadilly. In the distance can just be seen the now redundant cooling towers of Didcot-PS.
..22 may 2013..
Love them or Hate them, these plastic-pigs have been around now for a decade. This particular one does not even have a number (Because nobody really cares) but in fact it is 221138.It was forming '1O12' the 09:27 from Manchester-Piccadilly going to Bournemouth.Seen shortly after departing Southampton-Central passing Saxon Road Footbridge.
..02 may 2013..
Arriva-XC 4-car non-tilt Voyager 220013 hums through the LS-Valley at Claverton going to Plymouth from York. Its regular route via Bridgewater today being closed for engineering work.
..18 november 2012..
Whilst having a weeks holiday in Cornwall at Looe a day-trip from Liskeard to Plymouth was taken. The Penzance to Manchester-Piccadilly '1M49' formed our service, the 11:12 from Liskeard. As usual it was totally packed out so a pleasant 30 minutes was spent in the vestibule! The 4-car Class220 V-ger is seen arriving at the station having just come through a thunderstorm, hence the partial rainbow in the background.
..26 september 2012..
220019 on the 07:00 Edinburgh to Bristol-TM seen south on Burton-on-Trent at Branston. The working we were waiting for here, the Biomass from Doncaster to Portishead was running late so after this shot the location was abandoned as time was pressing to get to Chelleston for several booked freights there!
..26 july 2012..
Arriva-XC V-ger 221138 powers north at Main Street in Burton-on-Trent with the 06:25 from Plymouth going to Edinburgh.A once good photographic location (A Footbridge) was located in the background where the foot crossing is but has now been demolished. However railtrack have announced it should be rebuilt shortly.
..26 july 2012..
Yet another Voyager passes through Dawlish Station. This one coming from Manchester-Piccadilly as '1V55' departing at 12:07 and going to Paignton. This particular one 220008 is one of the non-tilt 4-car versions that form the bulk of the Arriva-XC fleet. It must be a sunny day because the V-gers are allowed on the Seawall!
..21 july 2012..
The 06:10 from Derby going to Plymouth '1V42' speeds non-stop through Dawlish-Warren on a superb (at last) summers morning.5-car Voyager 221125 making up the train.Note the Isolated Camping-Coaches still here next to the station nicely painted in GWR Choc/Cream.I think there is about eight in total, mostly BR-Mk-1's.
..21 july 2012..
Double 220+++ Voyager's climb up past Narroways in the City of Bristol..The Avonmouth branch can be seen diverging here to the right. This working is the 13:00 from Penzance going to York. This was once a 4-track section of line and apparantly will be again if and when the electrification to Bristol from London is completed.
..09 june 2012..
After trekking right across Bristol only to miss one expected Freight by a minute and finding out the other one we came here for was cancelled minutes before we arrived a consolation picture of this V-ger (Well the sun was out!) was taken .Here is 4-car non-tilt 220024 rounding the curve at Yate Common on the approach to Westerleigh-Junction in the northern outskirts of Bristol. This working is listed as the 07:16 from Aberdeen going all the way to Penzance. Can you imaging the state of the customers going all the way in this train-type after 15 hours of vibrating rollerskating!.Not to mention humping your luggage from one V-ger to another and probably loosing your seat in the process at Birmingham-NS where passengers have to change trains.
..26 may 2012..
Arriva-XC Voyager 221141 powers past the packed platform at Filton Abbey Wood as it heads for its next stop at Bristol-TM.This was '1V59' from Manchester-Piccadilly going to Paignton.Note how the windshield has just received a power wash and wipe to rid it of bugs and detrious!
..21 may 2012..
The 09:27 from Manchester-Piccadilly heading for Bournemouth gets away from its Southampton-Central booked stop. Here seen about to go under the Saxon-Road footbridge.220015,one of the 4-car non-tilt variants on the duty.
..19 may 2012..
Due to 66101 on '6C62' having a failure (Loss of air,a broken hose) on the mainline near Dunball well south of Weston-s-Mare several southbound Arriva-XC services were diverted via Westbury to pick up their original route at Taunton. Here is '1V59' from Manchester-Piccadilly going to Paignton.Non-tilt V-ger 220008 being the service-provider.Trains were losing about 30 minutes using this diversion.Viewed at Berkley-Marsh nr Frome.
..01 may 2012..
Although the Arrive-XC Livery looks fine on their HST fleet somehow it looks less so on the Voyager-Units.Mind you they are pretty unsuitable anyway for long distance travel unless you are unconcious! Here is 220033 passing the iconic girder flyover at Worting-Junction with the 07:25 from Newcastle only going as far as Southampton.''1O84' being the headcode.
..17 april 2012..
One of the few V-gers retained by Virgin for their services mainly to Holyhead from Euston passes Litchfield. This unit is 221116,one of the 5-car units capable of 'tilt' operation unlike the 220-series.
..28 march 2012..
Here is a shot of three different TOC's workings all operating on the same stretch of track!. 158953 on a FGW service to Portsmouth.44403 with a SWT working to Waterloo and a Voyager 220021 from Arriva-XC heading for Bournemouth. This also shows just how busy this section of line north of Southampton-Central really is! The scene is at Horseshoe Bridge nr St Deny's.
..23 march 2012..
'1M38' from Bristol-TM to Manchester-Piccadily heads north past Gossington Foot Crossing.Train is an inevitable V-ger.Today it was 221127,one of the 5-door variety that was also designed to 'tilt' but almost certainly never will in Arriva-XC ownership.
..19 march 2012..
The 'TRT' is a monster train but when 10 'HQA-s' are added it really is huge.At a guess this one was about 500 yards in length so any chance of seeing the complete train are almost zilch! Here it is approaching Westbury on its way back to base at Tauntons-Fairwater Yard on '6Y33' from Abbotswood-Junction.Train engine is as seen 66549 whilst 66598 was still about 1/3 of a mile away! The diverted Arriva-XC going to other way was '1S47' from Plymouth (dep@09:25) heading for Glasgow.Despite the rear V-ger not even having a running number my sources indicate they were 220006+220010,not that many people care anyway! ..18 december 2011..
As the 08:07 from Manchester to Paignton '220020' accelerates away from Taunton a pair of 'Network-Rail' Track-Machines made by Plasser&Theurer wait for the signals to change. Lead unit is DR 73111 ''Reading Panel 1965-2005' and the other was DR77903 carrying the name 'Frank Jones'.Destination unclear but they were viewed leaving the extensive yard just a few hundred yards away.
..30 november 2011..
221119 rattles the pointwork at Didcot-East as it crosses over from the 'up' slow to the 'up' fast for the run down the Thames-Valley to Reading. This is the 10:27 from Manchester-Piccadilly going to Bournemouth.221119 is one of the 5-car V-gers with tilt capability but these on Arriva-XC duties have probably never used that facility and possibly never will!
..14 october 2011..
Arriva-XC 220027 heading towards Bournemouth with the 07:26 from Manchester-Piccadilly.Note the older more traditional milepost showing 51 miles to London and the modern 'reflectve' H&S driven ugly plastic equivilent next to it.
..06 october 2011..
The 08:44 from Penzance going only as far as Birmingham-New St gets away from Bristol's Parkway Station.Paired 4-car Voyager's 220011/220008 making up the cramped and noisy consist compared to the venerable but still popular HST-sets also in use on this route.
..23 september 2011..
Arriva-XC V-ger 220009,one of the 4-car non-tilt variety slows at Didcot-North on the 06:22 from Newcastle going to Reading.Trees here already showing that autumn is just a few weeks away.
..28 september 2011..
Super?Voyager 221-115 heads north towards Crewe at Chorlton with the (I think) 07:35 from Euston going to Manchester-Piccadilly.This Unit being the one selected to carry the 'Bombardier' Vinyls in Black on each Driving-Van. Wording goes like this----More Trains--Fewer Cars--Greener Planet-----. ..22 august 2011..
Due to a lunchtime signalling problem in the Bridgewater area several XC services were diverted via Westbury to maintain the service. Here is 2220034 with the 06:44 Newcastle to Plymouth XC.Naturally before the XC-HST was due the services resumed their normal route! ..25 march 2011..
Looking down from above the western portal of Whiteball-Tunnel a pair of Virgin 220's head towards Bristol and beyond on a service from the West. ..08 january 2007..
