Locomotives of this Company in the new colours of DBS are still uncommon but by November-2018 less so!.Since the first one (59206) was done in early 2009 the total now certainly well exceeds 70,albeit in Spring-2018 so things are starting to pick up a bit but rather slowly. Hopefully this Gallery will include a shot of each loco in the new colours when possible.
To date a total of 77 different locomotives have been recorded by myself in the new DB/Schenker-Red as of 23rd october 2021
Just 'click' the thumbnails for a fullpage image! (1280 +827 nominal)
92042 passes Shallowford nr Norton-Bridge on the WCML with '6L48' from Garston going to Dagenham. These engines are quite elusive with only 2 regular paths each day on this line.
..22 august 2011..
'6B41' the Water-Train beats a path north through Chelmscote.Coming from Wembley and going to Daventry-DIRFT'.One of the under used assets of the UK freight scene Schenker-Red 92016 doing the duty.
..27 july 2012..
Matching Schenker 'Pinks' 90018 'Pride of Bellshill' and 90040 power through Atherstone with '4M25' the 06:06 from Mossend-Euroterminal to Daventry-IRFT.A very unusual day today! Not a cloud in the sky from dawn to dusk!
..7 may 2018..
Not quite the '6M76' we were expecting but the lack of any China-Clay bogies to be brought south resulted in this somewhat truncated train!.Here is Schenker-Red 90029 with a single bogie scrap wagon passing Old Linslade running not unexpectedly given the load somewhat earlier than booked time. The service originated in Scotland at Mossend with the destination being Wembley.
..31 july 2015..
What goes up must come down! DB-liveried 90019 'Multimodal' which went to Newark North Gate and terminated there barely 25 minutes ago repassed Claypole now journeying back to Kings Cross as '1B87' departing Newark at 15:52.Now pushing its train with DVT 82224 leading.
..7 may 2018..
'4S47' the 19:13 from Daventry to Mossend Euro Terminal heads north at Easenhall with a Schenker owned pair of Class-90s in charge.Previously this was a Class-92 duty but these are now either stored, working Sleeper Trains, generally out of favour or being exported to Bulgaria.Hence 90s are back in favour. Here are 90018 and 90020 captured on a long telephoto lens again due to an advancing foreground shadow! Good load as well!
..30 july 2015..
One of DB's latest repaints 67028 c/w a somewhat out of place Logo 'Leading the next generation of rail freight' today headed the returning Belmond Pullman '1O92' from Bath Spa (15:55 off) back to London-Victoria.Belmond liveries 67024 being out of sight on the rear.Unfortunately I missed a brief period of bright sunlight by about 20 seconds (An all too familiar story these days for me!) as it passed Arn Hill on the approach to Warminster.
..28 march 2018..
Having one of its first trips out in traffic since receiving its repaint into Schenker-Red was 67027 on this Test-Train '1Q33' with 67020 on the rear.Travelling from Derby-RTC and going to Heaton-CS the painfully bright Skip is seen passing Burton Salmon heading East.Techically this is the first '67' to get this livery. ' Keith Heller' 67018 doesn't really qualify as it was decaled as 'Maple Leaf' and the loco colour although very close, was in fact Canadian Pacific-Red instead!
..15 march 2014..
67018 'The Maple-Leaf' exits Weston-s Mare with '2C67' from Cardiff going to Paignton.Captured passing Sunnyside Road in the Town there.
..21 may 2010..
67015 sporting the logo 'Leading the next generation of rail freight' on its flanks heads todays Belmond-Pullman from London-Victoria (09:45 off) to Bath Spa.The Pullman liveried 67024 was on the back (This will lead this afternoon's return to the Capital). It is viewed here in the downhill section at Ladydown nr Trowbridge.
..17 july 2019..
The very recently reliveried/repainted and reinstated Schenker-Red 67013 today led '1Z17' the 11:12 from Paddington to Cardiff-Central.67029 was the invisible helper on the rear.Unlike the immaculate loco the stock was a set of very careworn and faded ex-Anglia and ex-Virgin Mk-2 stock dragged out of store at Burton a few days ago.Seen at Long Dyke Junction approaching journeys end at Cardiff.
..19 september 2015..
The very recently reliveried into DB-Red 66206 ambles through Millbrook in Southampton with '6V41' the 14:45 from Eastleigh East Yard to Westbury afternoon engineers working.Today unusually all it had on the hook was a single 'IOA' which is probably off-repair in the Works going back to Westbury to rejoin its usual wagon-set there.
..6 august 2018..
Todays convoy from Margam (11:06 off) to Westbury/Eastleigh had to take a bit of a detour via Gloucester due I presume to the Severn-Tunnel being closed for engineering work. Here is '0X12' arriving at Westbury, today consisting of just 5 loco's. Schenker-Red 66185 with 66132/66114/66039 and 66154 in tow.The rear pair continued on to Eastleigh after a short halt here to remove the first three.
..31 october 2015..
DB's 66175 carrying the name 'Rail Riders Express' is seen at Clink nr Frome operating '6W02' the 16:43 from Westbury going down to Lostwithiel in deepest Cornwall.66112 was on the rear sandwiching 2 sets of loaded HQA's.---12 september 2020---
When this shot was taken the train engine 66152 was unique in that it was the only member of the 66/0 series to have gained DB-Schenker-Red.Here it is passing Heytesbury in the Wylye-Valley with '6V41' from Eastleigh heading for Westbury with 66230 tucked inside. The contrast between the loco and the bright yellow crops in the fields certainly makes for a colourful shot!
..20 may 2010..
Here is a full set of converted Ex-Coal Hoppers (HTA) now rebuilt as HRA's,about 20% have been cut out of the centre making a more useful hopper for aggregate work.Hauled by DB's 66150 it is viewed passing Bratton on the B&H with '6M20' the 10:37 from Whatley Quarry going to Churchyard Sidings.Does the appearence of these wagons mean the end on the old orange 'rust bucket' ex-RMC's I wonder?
..28 january 2019..
One of the very latest DB owned GM's to get the 'Pink' makeover is 66149 c/w the new DB insignia on its flanks. Here it is at Norton Bavant in the Wylye-Valley with '6V16' the 11:47 from Fareham-ARC returning empty boxes to Whatley Quarry.
..23 february 2017..
DB's 66137 rolls slowly up to Clink Road Junction with '6C58' the 11:55 from Oxford-Banbury Road to Whatley. With the change of the clocks and the ever shortening days this working is just about the only afternoon freight it is now possible to picture here. The later 7C77 and 6V18 are quite simply too late as the shadows will be well overboth tracks with 30 minutes!
..1 november 2018..
DB-China Celebrity 66136 in DB-Red c/w decals to mark its use on the 'First Yiwu-London Train' runs through Milbrook with the returning engineers timed at 14:47 from Eastleigh-East Yard to Westbury as '6V41' with a CWR-Set. I saw this arrive this morning from Westbury at Eastleigh and the loco still looked rather grubby from its RHTT use a few weeks ago.By a huge stroke of luck it seems it was given a wash and brush-up before the return journey. How lucky was that!
..17 november 2017..
A freshly painted loco, superb sky and full lighting. The only thing missing was a decent load! Oh well. here is DB's 66135 with '4O43' from Wakefield-Europort (05:35) going to Southampton Western Docks-Berth 109.Viewed at Southampton-Central.In fairness there was quite a few containers on this train but all unfortunately right at the very rear of the formation.
..18 april 2018..
DB liveried 66134 heads '6O41' the 10:14 from Westbury to Eastleigh East Yard Engineers train.Interesting load today consisting of a rather large Colas-Crane and a set of HOBC wagons as well.Viewed in pristine winter light passing the ancient Church St-Nicholas of Mira at Little Langford in the Wylye Valley.
..9 january 2019..
66131 was the 2nd 'ex-works' looking DB-GM to pass this way today.Such a pity due to the timeof day the lighting here was rather harsh and 'head-on' for that matter as well! Here it is running back down to Whatley Quarry with '7V16' the 11:47 from Fareham-ARC.Seen at Clink.Hopefully it will hang around for a few days so another more satisfactory shot can be had!
..10 may 2018..
DB-66130 brings its loaded string of 'Blue-Sausages' full of brand new Minis for export through Didcot-North Junction as '4O39' the 09:43 from Oxford-Morris Cowley MAT going to Southampton Eastern Docks.Nice to see the currently abandoned electrification OHLE didn't get as far as this bridge although it is quite close as viewed in the middle distance!
..5 april 2018..
One of the latest repaints into DB-Cargo colours is 66128 here seen passing through Newport with some steel products as '6M30' the 10:55 from Margam-TC going to Dee-Marsh via a reversal at Llanwern probably to collect some further traffic.
..23 april 2017..
The freshly DB reliveried 66125 passes Mount Pleasant with the northbound '4E68' 15:15 from Southampton Western Docks-Berth 109 to Wakefield Europort.
..24 may 2022..
Another recently reliveried DB-GM 66124 passes Clink nr Frome with '6M20' the 10:37 from Whatley Quarry going up to St Pancras/Churchyard Sdg's.Although was pretty much 'on-time' here it eventually arrived at its destination 2 hours late due to it having to be diverted via Swindon with all the delays that entails due to an HST failing on the B&H nr Theale with a Power-car apparantly on fire!
..13 august 2018..
Due to a fruitless trip to Bristol yesterday morning looking for a Class-56 that actually failed to run I missed this combination yesterday of recent Schenker-Red repaint 66118 and the newly delivered to this area ex-NP hoppers still in their old livery.Luckily it did a repeat performance today and even luckier the sun was shining! Here is that Red-Shed and those LWB hoppers passing Berkley-Marsh nr Frome with '6M20' going up to St-Pancras in London from Whatley-Q.Apparantly these are to become a regular wagon set working out of Whatley-----We will see?
..03 april 2013..
66115 in DB-Red c/w its motley collection of 18 various colours and style aggregate hoppers passes ADJ-Yard in Newport working 6V03' the 11:37 from Wembley Euro Freight Operations Centre going to Ryan's Wharf on Cardiff Docks.A very colourful working with plenty of character!
..19 april 2018..
One of Schenker's more recent repaints 66114 passes through Oxford as seen from the Osney Lane footbridge. The train is '4O43' the 06:31' from Birch Coppice-Exch Sidings going to Eastleigh East Yard. The once extensive railway land on the right now given over to the large park-n-ride car park.
..26 september 2015..
DB-66113 coughs out a bit of blackness as it passes Fairwood with '7V16' the 11:56 from Fareham-ARC returning empty boxes to Whatley Quarry.
..14 may 2019..
66107 hauls '6C03' the 09:33 from Northolt Sdg's to Severnside-SITA rubbish train through the Limpley Stoke Valley which is its now regular booked routing.Grubby ex-RHTT 66018 was tacked on the back end. Here viewed in weak sunlight approaching Freshford Station.
..15 january 2020..
The regular Saturday loco movement from Margam (10:43 departure time) to Westbury and Eastleigh as '0O12' today ran as '6O12' taking one 'TIA' and four 'TDA-s' down to Eastleigh for some mtce work and probably a repaint. Here DB's 66105 is viewed at Arn Hill going south.DB making what is now a quite rare freight movement on this stretch of line.
..23 october 2021..
The rather filthy DB liveried 66104 (Probably from RHTT duties) passes Fairwood nr Westbury with this STP working '6Z06' bringing this pair of RHTT-FEA's 652020 & 642035 up from Exeter Riverside (10:08 off) to Westbury Down-TC. Now the leaf fall season is over these will go back to their base wherever that is ? for a good clean and service ready for next years duties.
..20 december 2018..
Todays Hinksey to Eastleigh regular engineers working was cancelled and substituted with this '6Z55' Hinksey to Hinksey magic-roundabout simply to reverse the direction of this CWR-Set.It was to travel via Melksham and the B&H arriving back in Hinksey in the evening. Here is Schenker-Red 66101 not long after departing Oxford passing Didcot with about 160 miles to go before it gets back to where it started. Fuel crisis? What Fuel crisis?
..22 may 2012..
I missed this loco DB's 66100 'Armistice 100 1918-2018' last thursday at Oxford which was a particularly sunny day but thankfully today I managed to picture it working '7V16' the 11:56 from Fareham-ARC returning empty boxes to Whatley Quarry.Caught in a brief splash of sunniness shortly after it had departed Westbury for Whatley Quarry at Fairwood.
..19 february 2019..
DB-Schenker liveried 66097 passes Lower-Basildon with '6X48',the 14:58 from Dagenham to Didcot Cars.Train actually carries on north a few hours later but officially this working ends at Didcot. A good load today of mainly Ford-Fiesta's and Focus's.
..28 september 2011..
DB-Red 66085 hums through Cholsey with this well loaded Inter-Modal working '4O21' from Trafford Park (09:15 off) going down to Southampton West Docks-Berth 109.Note the large mirror type unit on a pole now planted on the platform here. This is an aid to the drivers on the local trains that stop here as these services are now 'single manned' with no staff on board apart from the driver (Known as DOO).This is the reason for the persistant strikes on the 'Southern'-TOC.GWR seem to have accepted it!
..12 february 2018..
DB-66082 runs through Berkley nr Frome with a set of orange ex-RMC 'rust-buckets' as the 07:39 from Acton-TC to Whatley Quarry, presumably as '6V33'.Viewed at a bush-less Berkley Marsh.A rather head-on type shot because of the awkward positioning of one of the dreaded radio-masts and assoc equipment cabin making the more traditional shot from here now virtually impossible.
..19 september 2017..
Just occasionally the regular '0O12' from Margam to Eastleigh becomes something a little bit interesting! Well today was the day the 10:55 from Margam to Eastleigh East Yard ran as '6O12', a triple-header 66078/66128 & 66065 (All DB-Red) plus three TEA-tanks and one TIA tank for good measure. These are probably off the Robeston Oil Circuit going the Eastleigh for a spot of necessary Mtce. This nice looking working is seen at Arn Hill nr Warminster. This was a bit of a waiting game here as it finally departed Westbury after a delay of almost an hour!
..13 july 2019..
Of all the shots here at Freshford this afternoon over a period of 3 hours this was the only one without much sun if any on it.Sod's Law once again I suppose. This monster convoy of nine locomotives ran from Margam-L.I.P over to Westbury as '0X12' departing there at 10:55.Identities are as follows from rear to front--66066/66065/66149/66155/66111/66138/66158/66112 and the leading loco being 66207.Note the pair of DB-Cargo Red engines appear to have different style large 'DB' stickers applied.
..18 february 2017..
This is an interesting one! Known by some as 'Shed-0-Shed' because of its palindromic number 66066 'Geoff Spencer' is viewed at Hungerford working '6C58' the 11:55 from Oxford-Banbury Road going back to Whatley Quarry with a train of empty boxes..Of interest is the Logo on this loco 'DB' is white letters on a red background.Virtually all the other DB branded loco's have 'DB' in red letters on a white background. A very subtle and easy to miss alteration to this logo! Research shows only this loco 66066 and 66055 have these German type 'Verkehrsrot' decals.
..1 october 2018..
Pictures like this will soon be a fond memory after Freightliner take over the mendip Quarry Contracts. So here is a nice clean DB-Red liveried 66065 edging away from Westbury with '6V16' the 11:55 from fareham returning empty boxes back down to Whatley Quarry.Viewed at Fairwood nr Westbury.
..12 september 2019..
Although this particular Schenker-Shed has been repainted into the newer red livery now for just over a year this is my first viewing of it! Here is 66058 'Derek Clark' working '6O41' the 10:14 from Westbury Down- Sidings to Eastleigh East Yard, passing Norton Bavant in the Wylye Valley.Of note is that Schenker have finally come to their senses and placed the proper sized nameplates in the traditional position on the bodyside instead of squashing it up under the cab windows! Note--As of March 2018 this loco was sold to GBRF and is now numbered 66783 and gloriFies in the name of 'The Flying Dustman' and wears a one- off livery of 'Biffa-Orange'!!!!!!!
..10 november 2016..
66055 named after 'Alain Thauvette' the then CEO of DB-Cargo who also created ECR was today allocated as the Westbury 'super-shunter'.Here seen in the Up-Yard with a rather lightweight load!.Of interest is the Logo on this loco 'DB' is white letters on a red background.Virtually all the other DB branded loco's have 'DB' in red letters on a white background. A very subtle and easy to miss alteration to this logo! Research shows only this loco 66055 and 66066 have these German type 'Verkehrsrot' decals. ..15 november 2017..
DB continues to repaint their fleet of GM-66's into the bright-red current livery. This loco 66044 being one of the recent recipients. Here seen at Fairwood nr Westbury with '6M20' the 10:37 from Whatley going upto Churchyard Sdg's at St Pancras in London. The regular mix of HOA's and IIA's making up the train usually about 19 bogies long.
..1 june 2017..
DB-66041 works '6M20' the 10:37 from Whatley to St-Pancras up past Berkley Marsh albeit about an hour late for some reason.Nice to see the old ex-RMC rust-buckets on this duty again!
..15 june 2018..
DB liveried 66035 'Resourceful' heads '6C58' the 11:55 from Oxford Banbury Road to Whatley Quarry past Masters Crossing nr Fairwood Junction. It didn't go via the Station as it normally does due to the Westbury Station area still being completely closed due to difficulties recommisioning the signalling there after the entire North Junction track layout was replaced during the Xmas shutdown.
..4 january 2019..
66034 still looks quite smart just a couple of months after it September/17 repaint out of EWS into DB-Cargo Red.here is my first view of it in its new guise today working '6M20' the 10:37 from Whatley Quarry going up to St-Pancras-Churchyard Sidings.Viewed passing Fairwood Foot-Xing in some quite nice low autumn lighting.Still the same old ex-NP hoppers in various shades of decreptitude!
..16 november 2017..
Yet another recent repaint into DB-Red.This time it is 66027 seen here approaching Westbury with '6M20' the 10:37 from Whatley Quarry to Churchyard Sidings up in London nr St-Pancras.Now that Freightliner have won the contract for the Mendip-Quarry workings from next Autumn I wonder if this working will be included. It always uses DB wagons so perhaps this train will not be included in the changes???? I wonder.
..8 january 2019..
DB-Red liveried 66020 takes the station route at Didcot North-Junction with '4O40' the 09:43 from Morris-Cowley MATgoing to Southampton East Docks. The load being export bound BMW-Minis all nicely disguised in the 'blue sausage car carriers.Pictured off the recently built 'monster' electrification style footbridge located here.
..12 february 2018..
My first sighting of this loco 66018 since it has had its DB-Pink makeover. Here seen running into Newport-ADJ from Cardiff-Tidal 'light-engine' for stabling purposes.
..19 april 2018..
DB-Red 66009 with it mottly set of ex-RMC hoppers in tow passes Fairwood going to Whatley Quarry for a ballast reload coming from Wembley Euro Frt Ops Centre as '6V33' (07:18 off).Note the remains of the previous weekends snowfall that for a few days paralyzed the railways completely in this area mainly due to managerial over cautiousness and H&S paranioa!
..21 march 2018..
The original EWS-GM 66001 has recently been repainted into the familiar Schenker-Red.Here it is heading the now regular weekend convoy of locomotives from Margam going to Westbury and/or Eastleigh. It can consist of up to 10 engines but today amounted to only five. They were 66001/66009/66111/66095 and 66192.It was running as '0O12'.Here it is viewed passing the now rather empty looking East Usk-Junction in Newport in watery weak sunshine.
..18 may 2013..
Its not very often I venture this far west for '6B33' from Theale to Robeston. Here is 60100 with its long train of empty TEA-tanks slowing for Cardiff-Central as it passes Long Dyke Junction.Regretfully this junction which offered a back way into the Docks area and Splott has now been recently severed (As can be seen in the distance).
..11 october 2014..
A rather nice finale to the 6 hour day spent in and around the Shrivenham area was this shot at Ashbury's Crossing of '6B33' the 13:00 away from Theale returning discharged fuel tanks back to Robeston in W-Wales. Schenker-Red 60092 was todays choice of loco on this train which is still virtually 100% Class-60 hauled.Worryingly a path is now showing on RTT from Immingham to Theale so perhaps the trips from Robeston are numbered. Also this just might be my final shot here of a completely clear line between Compton Beauchamp and Ashbury'ds The OHLE crap is getting worryingly close!
..30 august 2016..
'6B13' should have passed this point over 3 hours earlier but Schenker-60091 slipped to a stand on iced up rails west of Port-Talbot and required the services of a GM-Helper as far as Margam.Thankfully this delay meant it was to make its appearance on the Westerleigh Branch quite near to its destination with the sun now having moved round enough to enable this rare chance of a shot from the west side of the track here at the Village.Amazingly the skies remained clear and this quite nice shot was the result.Quite a gallery of locals here! but then you would expect that.
..01 february 2012..
The former 'Foinaven' but now nameless 60079 runs down the branch towards Westerleigh Oil Terminal with '6B13' from Robeston. The bright red DB Schenker Class-60's are now almost the norm on these trains, however it is still nice to picture them in nice light, even if, as in this case shadows were chasing it up the track! Finally overtaking before less than half the train of 23 'TEA-s' had passed.Location is Westerleigh Village Foot-Xing.This area is soon to be change forever with a massive 'Sustrans' cycle-path scheme alongside the track here, almost certainly to be followed by 'FailTracks' contribution in the form of a 6ft high pallisade fence, probably painted in green so it won't be noticed??????......Yea-Right.................
..11 april 2012..
Although this newly re-introduced engine 60063 had been on this working '6B13' from Robeston to Westerleigh now for over a week it was only today with the promise of almost guaranteed sunshine that prompted me to make the effort of a 100 miles round trip to picture it.Here the still immaculate Class-60 thumps down past Gossington with its full load of laden 'TEA' Tanks.Nice one! Even the clean non-exhaust end was leading, hence no soot on the cab roof.
..19 march 2012..
A very colourful 60062 thumps past Wickwar with '6B13' from Robeston going to Westerleigh Oil Terminal.A memorable shot this for two reasons, this is the first time I have ever done this shot and secondly the look on Mark Few's face when he realised his EOS-50D was knackered 5 minutes before this was due with no back up available!
..31 august 2013..
60059 'Swinton Dalesman' passes Arn-Hill nr Warminster with '6V41' from Eastleigh going to Westbury with the afternoon DBS infrastructure working.------------01 may 2013------------
60054 the former 'Charles Babbage' had the distinction of being the last '60' to work wearing its original 'as-built' livery. Now it is in the standard Schenker-Red.Here it is passing Westerleigh Village with '6B13' from Robeston going to the Oil-Terminal less than a mile from this overbridge. As can be seen from the track formation this was once a double track mainline that brought the LMS south into Bristol. Now truncated it goes only as far as the Yards now at Westerleigh.
..17 july 2013..
As often happens on a Saturday this train '6B33' was running nearly an hour early as it passed this spot at South-Marston nr Swindon. No complaints though as the lighting is somewhat better than later! So today it was 60044 hauling its set of discharged Fuel-Tanks back to Margam in S-Wales from Theale (11:27 off nominally).
..13 december 2014..
Previously the 'Army-Tug' in its unique maroon colour scheme, 60040 emerged from its overhaul at Toton in the now standard Schenker-Red.One concession was the retention of 'The Territorial Army Centenary' nameplates. Here it is seen still looking pretty smart passing East-Usk in Newport going to Scunthorpe from Margam '6E66' hauling a long rake of empty steel carriers.
..10 august 2012..
60024 one of the most recently re-introduced refurbished Tugs today headed '6V41' from Eastleigh up to Westbury. Here it is seen at the now rather shadowy Norton-Bavant (even at 16:15 in the afternoon) running well about 10 minutes ahead of schedule. As usual the non-exhaust end has remained perfectly clean, the exhaust end rarely does.
..16 september 2013..
Recent returnee to traffic after a major overhaul/refurbishment at Toton is 60020.Although now looking a little workstained it still looks quite smart, particularly with the non-exhaust cab-end leading, hence no sooty deposits on the roof. The working is of coarse '6B33' from Theale-Murco going to Robeston-Sidings.Nice mix of older and newish 'TEA' tankers today in three different livery styles although the front brown one is actually supposed to be red! The train is seen passing Shrivenham.Use of a slight telephoto about 135mm necessary as the shadows had lengthened considerably and a standard 50mm type shot was no longer possible.
..19 february 2013..
60019 was again allocated to '6L21' from Whatley to Dagenham today. Thanks Darren for chopping all the 'twiggy' bushes back last weekend,it has made to shot possible again. Here it is approaching Fairwood Foot-Xing on the run into Westbury.Note the Margam 'Sheep' emblem now affixed to the front-end!
..14 november 2012..
A nice clear forecast for a Saturday was enough to prompt me to take a trip over the Severn-Bridge for few pictures.Today kicked off (After the obligatory McMuffin and Coffee) with '6B13',the 05:04 off Robeston going to Westerleigh with loaded 'Murco' tanks.Seen here for a change at East-Usk Junction in pretty near perfect light.Recently refurbished 60017 doing the job. This was my first encounter with Tug-17 in the now commonplace Schenker-Red colours. At least it was the clean-end leading!.
..02 february 2013..
Westbury-Wilts is having a bit of a Class-60 renaissance at the moment with two members of the Class working various trains off this location. Here is one of the pair 60015 (The other being 60019) both in the now common Schenker-Red livery. Today it being allocated to '6Z17' to Hayes-Tarmac' from Whatley-Q.This shot captured in dire light at Elliots Lane on the Whatley branch.Interestingly this was running about 14 minutes behind '6M20' which caused me some confusion! Also as far as I can remember a 2nd train of ex-RMC orange-hoppers out of Whatley within 15 minutes of another set is certainly a rare event!
..15 november 2012..
A series of horn-toots and deep rumbles heralded the approach of this--'6B47' from Westerleigh going back to Robeston with the empty 'tanks'. 60011 positively glows! when the sun shines and that was the case this evening.Got 'done' by a partial floater two weeks previously so a return match was necessary to get this successful result.

For some reason, possibly due to all the extra trains for the Rugby in Cardiff '6B33' was diverted off its regular route and went via Bath instead of on the top-road as usual.Hence a chance to picture it in somewhat different surroundings especially as there was no bright sunlight to worry about! Here then is Schenker-Red 60010 passing Thingley nr Chippenham with the 24-bogie TEA's long train fitting in nicely between the two bridges here.Due to the low light available a 35mm f2 prime lens was used. Settings of [email protected] at 400asa just about filled the bill.

60007 the refurbished and repainted 'Schenker-Super-Sixty' passes Highworth nr Swindon on '6B33' from Theale returning discharged fuel-tankers to Margam, then Robeston.Tried for a shot of it on thursday, two days ago but one of the tankers ran a hot-box near Didcot requiring the services of the local Fire-Brigade.The delay meant a very late resumed journey once the offending bogie-tank was removed and made safe.Due to the time of year darkness had virtually arrived by the time it passed Chipping-Sodbury.I think this shot makes up for it?

Here is the Pioneer-Tug 60001 that was re-instated to traffic after an overhaul at Toton a few months ago after an unbelievable 8 years in storage! Here it is passing East Usk Junction in Newport with the morning Margam/Trostre to Llanwern Tripper '6B03'.

'Two of a Kind' DB-Schenker Liveried Engines work a Freight together! 60011/59206 pass Gt Cheverell on '6C76' from Theale back to Whatley-Quarry.

Shot included due to it being possibly the first time a 'pair' of Schenker-Red locomotives have worked a revenue earning train.
'7V52' the returning empties from Hamworthy going back to Whatley (Reversal at Westbury) passes under the main roadbridge at the top of the Upton-Scudamore Incline with the Schenker 59206 well in charge.Working was about 25 mins early so was rather lucky to have got to this vantage point in time.A 2nd shotwas had about 45 minutes later on the Westbury to Whatley Leg at Clink.

Latest 59/2 at this time to get a repaint is 59205.Although it was returned from Toton nearly 2 months ago it has spend most of that time in Merehead Workshops having some heavy maintenence done on it.Now released to traffic the still clean loco (Also nameless like 59201) is seen doubled up with 59102 passing Fairwood with '7C77' from Acton going to Merehead. Of the class of 6 engines 3 are now in Schenker-Red,1 is at Toton being repainted and just 2 are roaming around in rusty EWS.

59204 displaying its new coat of Schenker-Red to good effect as it passes the White Horse Business Park Foot X-ing on '6C83' from Machen in S-Wales going only as far as Westbury Yard today.A second after the shutter was pressed the fast moving clouds had darkened the scene.Lucky or wot!

'7C31' from Acton to Merehead makes its way down the Frome Avoiding-Line on the final leg of the journey from Westbury.A still fairly clean 59203 in charge of todays load of 38 empty hoppers.

Here is a Schenker-Pair of 59/2's. 59202 is the most recent repaint and also the last one in the class of six to get it.It certainly look transformed from the dull rusty pockmarked heap that went north to Toton about 6 weeks ago! Here it is partnered with 59205.This is the first 59/2 pairing in new Schenker-Red I have seen.Something no doubt in the years to come will be quite commonplace. The working '7C74' gained the extra loco (59202) at Westbury after arriving from Theale earlier single handed.

As this was my first encounter with 59201 in reliveried guise under a clear blue sky I couldn't resist a 2nd grab-shot as it passed Clink in Frome going to Merehead with '7C77' This thing is so shiny it played havoc with photoshop whilst preparing it before presentation!

Billed as the final LCHS to Weymouth though in fact it happened again the year after! 37670 and 37401 approach Clink-Junction with the Bristol to Weymouth 'final saturday service'.Anticipating extra loading one more coach was added but train was still standing room only by the time it reach Bath!

Footnote The 2nd 37 repainted in Schenker-Red 37419 never actually made it into regular service and was withdrawn. It is now with DRS and as of Feb-2012 wears Compass-Blue!
