EuroPorte GBRf (After 01 August 2018)
A growing Concern mainly based in the South and East of the Country. This band of locomotives has by far the most diverse selection of liveries applied to them since introduction in 2002.79 loco's are in the sub-class.One however 66734 has been broken up in Sept-2013 due to an accident and the impossibility of recovering it fully intact! A further 10 were added in late 2018 when the Company purchased additional locomotives from DB.
GBRf's 66730 powers through St Denys in Southampton with '4Y19' the 12:30 from Mountfield to Southampton Western Docks.
..24 june 2020..
GBRf's 66703 creeps slowly away from a signal check as it starts its ascent of the Upton Scudamore Incline at Penleigh nr Westbury working '6O41' the 10:14 from Westbury Down Yard to Eastleigh morning engineering working which today had a CWR-Train in tow.
..9 june 2020..
GBRf's current Westbury Slave 66710 Phil Packer' climbs the Upton Scudamore Incline with its load of 5 'YDA's from an HOBC-Set as '6O41' the 10:14 from Westbury to Eastleigh East Yard.
..2 june 2020..
This Tele-shot was forced upon me by a small rogue cloud that was comprehensively blocking out the sunlight in the foreground! Here is GBRf's 66710 with '6X41' from Eastleigh East Yard to Westbury conveying parts of a TRT plus a few JNA & MLA's as well.Pictured about 100 yds from the A350 road bridge at Arn Hill nr Warminster.
..1 june 2020..
GBRf's 'Phil Packer' 66710 with its lengthy train of 19 wagons, mainly JNA's (Falcons) loaded with scrap sleepers and rail sections passes Upton Scudamore with the afternoon engineers '6V41' the 14:48 from Eastleigh East yard to Westbury Down-TC.
..29 may 2020..
GBRf's 66719 'Metro-Land' which was once adorned in 'metronet' colours passes under the A350 road at Arn Hill which is just visible behind the loco with '6V41' the 14:48 from Eastleigh East Yard to Westbury Down-TC engineerng working.
..25 may 2020..
'Huddersfield Town' the GBRf footballer 66738 passes Norton Bavant with '6V41' the 14:38 from Eastleigh East Yard to Westbury engineering working.Note the scruffy grafitti on the nose-end and on its flanks. That has been there now for over a week and is yet to be removed.
..23 march 2020..
66738 'Huddersfield Town' looks to have suffered a graffiti attack at the hands of some little brainless turd somewhere. No doubt when to loco has its next clean which it certainly overdue it will be removed. Here it is returning to Westbury as '0V41' the 14:38 away from Eastleigh.Seen at the recently manicured Arn Hill nr warminster.
..11 march 2020..
GBRf's nameless 66781 along with its load of a solitary VGA-van today formed '6V48' the 12:20 from Ludgershall-MOD up tp Kineton-MOD.Viewed here from the 'cage' or if you prefer the Dursley Road Footbridge in Trowbridge Town
..10 march 2020..
GBRf's 66762 climb out of Westbury at Dilton Marsh with the 10:14 '6O41' engineering service to Eastleigh-East Yard.It was quite a lightweight load today with just seven OCA's on the hook.
..9 march 2020..
66704 'Colchester Power Signal Box' along with a lone YWA-Salmon today formed '6O41' the 10:14 from Westbury to Eastleigh.Seen here at Little Langford in the Wylye Valley now this service has reverted to its usual route after a while going via the B&H because of a landslip at MIlford just south of Salisbury-Note this hasn't been fixed yet but freight trains now go this way although passengers still need to use the buses!
..6 march 2020..
66781 formally 66016 hauls a train of 20 HQA's (4-sets) with Colas's 70805 on the rear past Church Road- Heywood on the approach to Hawkeridge Junction. It came off an engineering occupation at Chipping Sodbury booked off as '6C23' at 14:00 but actually departed 103 minutes early heading for Hinksey Yard at Oxford although it passed me here bang on schedule!
..1 march 2020..
The MOD today from Marchwood (12:16 depart) was routed to Kineton-MOD.. GBRf's 66710 'Phil Packer BRIT' being todays allocated loco. Viewed passing a fairly sunny Arn Hill nr Warminster.
..12 february 2020..
GBRf's 66703 'Doncaster PSB 1981-2002' comes over the crest of the Upton Scudamore Bank at Arn Hill with an MOD working from Donnington-RFT (Departure being at 05:38) going down to Marchwood.A nice load today running as '6Z84 comprising a long train of blue containers.
..27 january 2020..
Yesterdays stock from the Tour to York from Bristol is seen returning to Eastleigh-Arlington from Bristol-TM headed by GBRf's 66740.It departed there at 09:03 working as '5Z34'.Annoyingly I travelled all the way here at Little Langford in the Wylye Valley from Warminster under a large sky-blue patch only for it to be clouded over about 5 minutes before this train passed......
..1 december 2019..
66709 'Sorrento' the MSC liveried GBRf loco passes Arn Hill in weak sunlight with '6O41' the 10:14 from Westbury down to Eastleigh East Yard.20 seconds earlier it was full light but thats life isn't it?
..18 november 2019..
MSC liveried 66709 'Sorrento' draws a long string of loaded JNA's full of spent ballast from the week long occupation at Cogload Junction nr Taunton. This working is listed as '6Y43' the 11:07 from Highbridge Loop to Westbury. No doubt this load will be forwarded on to the ballast reprocessing depot at Eastleigh tomorrow. Viewed at Heywood Village nr Westbury.
..12 november 2019..
My first view of 66780 in its 'Cemex' colours was here at a very dark (1600-iso 640th@f5) Clink Road Junction whilst working '6G09' the 09:54 from Westbury down to a weekend occupation at Athelney Crossing west of Somerton. Its train consisting of a long string of empty JNA's presumably for spoil removal.
..9 november 2019..
I had high hopes that this would be 66780 the 'Cemex' but I suppose this is a decent 2nd Prize! GBRf's 66709 'Sorrento' passes Wylye with '6O41' the 10:14 from Westbury Dn-TC going to Eastleigh East Yard.Thankfully the morning was bright and clear prompting me to venture down the Wylye Valley given the near 100% certainly of a full light shot.
..7 november 2019..
November around Westbury has brought a complete change in operation for various companies.Freightliner have taken over the Mendip Quarry duties and GBRf have seemingly grabbed a proportion of the weekend engineering work that starts from Westbury.DB now, due to a serious lack of locally stationed traction seem to be taking something of a back seat on those operations as well. Anyway here is the seemingly 'new order' 66781 which wasi ronically once DB-66016 approaching Westbury ar Fairwood with '6G72' the returning 11:50 from Crediton to Westbury Down-TC.Captured in the first sun to show itself for a good few days!
..3 november 2019..
This is '6V41' headed by 66741 'Swanage Railway' bringing a large crane and a Rail-Vac RHUK-5 up from Eastleigh East yard to Westbury.I left Eastleigh at 14:05 on an earlier path then normal.Viewed at ArnHill nr Warminster.
..18 october 2019..
GBRf's 66761 'Wensledale Railway Association 25 years 1990-2015' passes Arn Hill nr Warminster with '6B45' an MOD working from Marchwood going to Ludgershall via a somewhat 'long way round' to avoid any shunting and be able to simply run up the branch at Andover with no stops.Journey time being almost 6 hours instead of a more direct route time of about 90 minutes! A very long way to deliver nothing whatsoever apart from the empty flat wagons!
..18 october 2019..
MOD traffic from the usually very quiet Army Depot at Warminster seems to be on the increase! Here is 66705 'Golden Jubilee',once famous for its large flag-logo when in its original GBRf livery is seen with '6Z07' the 15:20 away from Warminster loaded with military vehicles bound for Mossend Down Goods Loop in Scotland.Amazingly on such an indifferent day cloudwise this working passed whilst I was enjoying the largest patch of blue sky all day overhead!
..24 september 2019..
GBRf's 66753 'EMD Roberts Road' is seen after just leaving Westbury where it had a brief pathing stop passing Hawkeridge. It was working a completely empty MOD-Train from Marchwood-MOD up to Kineton-MOD '6V44'.Perhaps in readiness for a loaded move south in the next few days?
..3 september 2019..
GBRf's 'AI' liveried Class 59/0 look-a-like 66711 'Sence' takes a break from the Westbury to Eastleigh engineers circuit and did a trip down to Exmouth-Junction and return. Here is the returning '6G01' the 07:40 from Exmouth -Junction to Westbury Dn-TC with its very light load passing Clink nr Frome.
..1 september 2019..
66711 'Sence' continues to deputise for the unavailable 59003 on the Westbury to Eastleigh engineers circuit. Here it is working '6v41; the 14:45 from Eastleigh East yard to Westbury. The load being a small crane and a single loaded track-panel bogie flat wagon. It is pictured on the crest of the Upton Scudamore Bank which drops down to its destination at Westbury.
..30 august 2019..
This is '6V84' the 05:46 from Clitheroe Castle Cement going down to Avonmouth.GBRf's 66756 Royal Corps of Signals' was in charge of the nice shiny bogie tanks.10 years ago this location here at Cam & Dursley was a quite nice and wide shot but nowadays it is reduced to this pretty much head-on angle.
..24 august 2019..
GBRf's 59/0 Clone 'Sence' 66711 continues to deputise for the unavailable 59003 on the Westbury-Eastleigh departmental circuit. Here it is as simply '0O41' the 10:14 from Westbury to Eastleigh East Yard.Seen here at the now completely ruined Dilton Marsh Halt. The once visible overbridge and about 50 yds of track are now totally obscured by bushes whilst the Station itself was completely desecrated last year with over the top palisade fencing everywhere and multiple warning signs on multiple over engineered posts etc...John Betjemin the famous Poet that wrote a iconic poem about this once quaint country Halt would have a heart attack now if he saw it.Sadly though he has already passed away. At least he never saw its total ruination! ..21 august 2019..
(The standard lens version) GBRf's Class-59/0 lookalike 66711 'Sence' this evening worked '6O31' the 17:30 from Westbury to Eastleigh East Yard..Viewed toiling up the steep incline towards the summit at Upton-Scudamore with a decent load of full JNA's. A nice evening and the struggle through the 7ft high Maize field actually paid off for a change!
..20 august 2019..
(The more telephoto version) GBRf's Class-59/0 lookalike 66711 'Sence' this evening worked '6O31' the 17:30 from Westbury to Eastleigh East Yard..Viewed toiling up the steep incline towards the summit at Upton-Scudamore with a decent load of full JNA's. A nice evening and the struggle through the 7ft high Maize field actually paid off for a change!
..20 august 2019..
'Sence' 66711 in its 59/0 lookalike 'AI' colours is currently the substitute for GBRf's regulat performer on this duty '6V41'.That loco is away at Doncaster having an Exam. So here is 66711 with its short '6V41' the 14:45 from Eastleigh East Yard to Westbury passing Arn Hill shortly before the drop down the Upton-Scudamore incline on the approach to Westbury.
..19 august 2019..
Whilst 59003 is away having an examination at Doncaster this locomotive 66711 'Sence' in 'AI' colours has been allocated as its replacement. Here is '6O41' the 10:14 from Westbury to Eastleigh East Yd passing Wylye at Townend Farm Crossing.Given the almost 90% cloud cover this morning it was something of a miracle that this shot was achieved in reasonable lighting!
..19 august 2019..
GBRf's 66748 'West Burton 50' today was the haulier of '6V42' the 07:50 from Wellingborough to Whatley Quarry empties to collect a load of ballast.Seen approaching Clink nr Frome with its long string of empy boxes.
..29 july 2019..
GBRf's 66736 'Wolverhampton Wanderers' leads '6Y48' the 10:00 from Eastleigh East Yard to Hoo Junction engineering working through Worting Junction nr Basingstoke. The load being seven loaded MHA's and a CWR-Set.
..24 july 2019..
New build IET's for the Trans-Pennine services arrive in Dollands Moor via the Channel Tunnel from Italy. They are then taken to Eastleigh T&R.S.M.D for initial commisioning. Here is a working from Dollands Moor (04:12 off) to Eastleigh running as '6X80' passing Worting Junction. GBRf's 66703 leads with a selection of wagons serving as barriers sandwiching Class 802's numbers 211/212. No numbers or decals whatsover on these new builds.
24 july 2019..
GBRf's Footballer 66738 'Huddersfield Town' today worked '6V42' the 07:50 from Wellingborough Up-TC to Whatley Quarry to collect a consignment of Mendip stone. This particular working will remain in the hands of GBRf after Freightliner take over the Mendip Contract as it is not part of that particular arrangement.
..1 july 2019..
The expected 59003 wasn't on todays returning '6V41' the 14:45 from Eastleigh East Yard to Westbury.Presumably it has remained in Eastleigh for a booked examination? So here is is substitute 66723(ZA723) 'Chinook' rolling through Millbrook with a short rake of JNA's.Such a pity it isn't still in its original 'First' colours but that is progress I suppose!
..27 june 2019..
As usual the MOD from Bicester (07:38 off) to Marchwood was just plain empty! Just 8 container flats and a couple of warflats behind 66736 'Wolverhampton Wanderers'....Here passing Eastleigh in the hot sunshine.
.. 27 june 2019..
Since this working '6V42' the 07:50 from Wellingborough to Whatley was held for 5 minutes to allow an IET and a Local to pass Clink Road Junction it was quite easy to get ahead of it for a 2nd shot. This time 66724 was viewed at Clink main road bridge.
..15 may 2019..
'Drax Power Station' 66724 slows for an adverse signal prior to laddering over at Clink Road Junction to make its way down to Whatley Quarry with '6V42' with the 07:50 from Wellingborough. The loaded train returns later that afternoon.
..15 may 2019..
GBRf's 66724 'Drax Power Station' runs through Great Cheverell with the fairly regular working '6V42' the 07:50 from Wellingborough to Whatley Quarry to collect another load of aggregates.
..14 may 2019..
GBRf's 66724 'Drax Power Station' is seen hauling its set of empty boxes from Wellingborough (07:50 off) bound for Whatley Quarry as '6V42' to collect a load of aggregates.Viewed on the Crofton Curve looking east.
..13 may 2019..
GBRf's 66729 'Derby County' works a surprise running of '6V42' the 07:50 from Wellingbough Up-TC to Whatley Quarry given that it was a Bank Holiday. Here seen passing a field of Oilseed Rape that was in full bloom at Bratton on the B&H.
..22 april 2019..
GBRf's Green 66779 'Evening Star' c/w an 82F Bath Green Park Shed Plate runs down through St Denys with '4Y19' the 12:30 from Mountfield to Southampton Western Docks to collect another load of Gypsum.
..18 april 2019..
66729 'Derby County' today worked '6V42' the 07:50 from Wellingborough to Whatley Quarry to collect a trainload of aggregates. Here viewed at Berkley Marsh nr Frome slowing for Clink Road Junction.
..15 april 2019..
Here is (for me) the rather elusive 66779 'Evening Star' that has for the previous 3 days worked this train '4Y19' the 12:30 from Mountfield Sidings to Southampton Western Docks empty boxes to collect a load of Gypsum.A cold day but the 120 mile round trip down to here on my motorcycle was well worth the effort!
..11 april 2019..
With this rarely seen by me GBRf celebrity approaching I took this opportunistic mid-tele shot as 66779 'Evening Star' at Mount Pleasant road crossing in Southampton on '4Y19' the 12:30 from Mountfield Sidings going down to Southampton Western Docks to collect a load of Gypsum.A slightly changed perspective than the 2nd wider shot.Either of which is quite satisfactory.
..11 april 2019..
Today the '6M46' MOD working between Marchwood (12:18 off) and Bicester ran and amazingly it had a decent set of containers on it nicely loaded behind the loco as well.GBRf's 66740 'Sarah' was dong the honours as it was seen passing Bapton Farm Crossing in the Wylye Valley.
..1 april 2019..
Sooner or later most of the GBRf celeb's turn up at Westbury to work '6M40' the 11:56 from Westbury Up-TC to Cliffe Hill-Stud Farm.At last it was the BR-Large Logo 66789 'British Rail 1948-1997's turn to put in an appearance. Here is the ex-EWS 66250 in its GBRf guise getting away from Westbury with a nice load of MRA side-tippers at Hawkeridge.A somewhat backlit shot but this working is difficult at this time unless you want to go all the way to Swindon & its not much better there anyway!
..25 march 2019..
Finally I get to see GBRf's version of BR Large Logo Blue as seen on 66789 'British Rail 1948-1997'.here the former EWS- 66250 is seen dropping down the Upton Scudamore Incine towards Westbury with '0M40' the 09:27 from Eastleigh T&RSMD to Westbury in readiness for working '6M40' just over an hour later.Pictured off the platform at the mess that used to be the iconic Dilton Marsh Halt.
..25 march 2019..
GBRf's 66773 arrived at Westbury as '0V40' some 92 minutes later than planned and departed for Stud Farm about 60 minutes behind time.Amazingly its actual arrival at Stud Farm was 98 minutes early! Viewed in a short burst of sunniness off the platforms at Westbury Station.
..13 march 2019..
With '7B12' hauled by 59204 forming the backdrop GBRf's 66775 'HMS Argyll F231' moves away from Westbury heading for Whatley Quarry with '6V42' the 07:50 from Wellingborough to the Quarry to collect a trainload of aggregates.
..19 february 2019..
'Lesia' 66737 named after GBRf's MD's wife runs under Sherrington Lane bridge with '6M46' the 12:18 MOD working from Marchwood going up to Bicester.Predictably it was just a rake of empty container flats. The significance of the large '37' in the number is that the loco was named on his wife's 37th birthday!
..13 february 2019..
GBRf's 66749 with 50049 in tow traverses the Wylye Valley, seen at Sherrington whilst operating this loco move from Kidderminster(SVR) to Eastleigh Works (GBRf).There this '50' it is to undergo a repaint into GBRf colours for occasional use on stock moves etc.It departed Kidderminster as '0Z50' at 10:55.
..13 february 2019..
66748 'West Burton 50' today operated '6V42' the 07:50 from Wellingborough Up-TC to Whatley Quarry to collect a load of aggregates. This loco was imported from the Netherlands in 2012 and retained its grey original livery for quite some time. Finally gaining its Europorte colours in 2016.
Today an all too infrequent MOD working occurred between Warminster-MOD and Bicester-MOD.Sadly it was just four flat wagons but at least it was some activity out of these seldom used sidings! GBRf's 66712 'Peterborough Power Signal Box' was todays chosen loco to work '6M07' the 15:21 from Warminster-MOD to Bicester-MOD.Here seen at Heytesbury just 20 minutes after its departure from the MOD sidings.
..21 january 2019..
Here is 66778 'Darius Cheskin' working '6V42' the 07:50 from Wellingborough Up-TC GBRf to Whatley Quarry empty boxes in readiness to collect a load of aggregates.Technically this was the 2nd to last GM-66 type ever to be built but the claimant to be the final loco, 66779 was actually built using a large proportion of 2nd hand reconditioned components recovered when 66734/66402 was carefully dismantled on the banks of Loch Treig in Scotland after a major derailment. Therefore 66778 can rightly claim to be the final completely 'brand new' GM built for the european market!
..14 january 2019..
GBRf's 66715 'Valour' heads this steel working comprising a set of KVA-Ferryvans on '6V32' the 10:37 from Tilbury-I.R.F.T going to Trostre in South-Wales.Viewed at South Marston nr Swindon. With excellent timing the sun briefly burst out through the clouds allowing the almost 'full light' shot, seconds later it was gone again! ---22 december 2018---
This is my first visit to this location (South Marston) since the OHLE has been erected and the footbridge I am standing on was installed to replace a simple foot crossing. Not too bad here photographic wise with the posts only being on the north side of the line hence shots are acceptable considering all the new metal furniture. Here is GBRf's 66769 working '4B11' the 11:55 from Acton Yard going down to Cardiff Docks with a set of pretty workstained Ex-Freightliner HHA's.
..22 december 2018..
66750 once worked on the European Mainland for 'Rush-Rail' until imported by GBRf along with quite a few others when demand for freight engines was much higher than it is these days! Detailed differences on the front end point to its ancestry. Here it is passing Bratton on the B&H with '6V42' the 07:50 from Wellingborough Up Yard going to Whatley Quarry for a train load of aggregates.
..10 december 2018..
GBRf's 66715 'Valour-In Memory of all Railway Employees who gave their Lives for their Country' edges slowly towards Clink Road Junction after a signal check working '6V42' the 07:50 from Wellingborough-Up TC GBRf to Whatley Quarry empty stone boxes.
..21 november 2018..
Here is the unique GBRf- 66727 'Maritime One' in its distinctive blue colour scheme. It was working '6M40' the 11:56 from Westbury going up to Stud Farm.A difficult train to picture locally due to the sun angle. You need to go almost to Swindon before a shot on the front is possible----a pity.
..13 november 2018..
66707 'Sir Sam Fay-Great Central Railway' sits is the sunlight at Westbury having just arrived as '0M40' from Eastleigh in readiness to haul '6M40' the 11:56 from here to Cliffe Hall-Stud Farm with empty ballast boxes.
..31 october 2018..
'4Y19' the 12:30 from Mountfield Sdg's to Southampton-Western Docks passes Mount Pleasant as the shadows now rapidly start to invade the scene here as the sun sinks rapidly towards the horizon. The following weekend the clocks will revert to GMT from BST so this shot will no longer be available for this train until next Spring. The loco is 66751 an ex-European 'Rush Rail' engine that now carries the name 'Inspiration Delivered-Hitachi Rail Europe'.
..22 october 2018..
This is my first sighting of one of the GBRf operated fuel trains that now work into Westerleigh-Puma and return to Immingham. Here is 66771 with '6C45' the 11:35 from Westerleigh-Puma going up to Immingham with its train of discharged TEA's.Seen passing over the River Avon at Eckington going north.
..10 october 2018..
A second bite at GBRf's Muncie-Indiana built 66774 working '6V32' the 10:48 from Tilbury to Trostre. With a shiny loco, full sun and not a bush to be seen--why not!
..1 october 2018..
This makes a change from aggregate boxes or hoppers! GBRf's 66774 with a long string of ferryvans used to transport steel products passes Hungerford with '6V32' the 10:48 from Tilbury-I.R.F.T.going to Trostre Works in S-Wales.
..1 october 2018..
Recently named 'The Pavior' GBRf-Europorte liviried 66758 works '6V42' the 07:50 from Wellingborough-Up TC to Whatley Quarry over Hungerford Common.
..1 october 2018..
Here is '1Z10' the 'GBRf 2018 Out of the Ordinary' Charity Railtour (Day 1) going from London Victoria to Port Talbot.Loco for this leg is 66782 c/w its Charity Railtours Logo on the flanks. It departed London-Victoria at 09:39. Interestingly this was the first of the 10 engines obtained from DB (66046) released in GBRf livery.Viewed in pretty abject lighting conditions passing Ladydown in Trowbridge.
..20 september 2018..
The former DB-66058 now renumbered as 66783 'The Flying Dustman' for GBRf works through Hungerford with '6V79' the 12:01 from Angerstein Wharf to Pengham Reception Sdg's.This train is diverted via the B&H due to Bristol-Parkway being currently out of commission.A nice surprise this to finish off a day of sweeping shadows and high winds.Sadly no sunlight for this striking locomotive!
