..9 july 2021..arly).
A strange one this.Listed as 788S on RTT although its destination is listed as Woodborough Loop, the 09:18 off Whatley. It may be something to do with the recovery of an abandoned hopper that has been there for quite some time--Odd? Viewed coming off the Whatley/Frome line at Clink Road Junction.Loco 66604 doing the job . With the benefit of hindsight the explanation for this working is -----It departed Whatley as '6Z04' and remained in Woodborough Loop until it left at 17:45 (6 1/2 hours later) then running as '7A04' picking up the path of the 19:02 from Whatley to West Drayton but running 3 hours earlier than that booked time...All very confusing?
..9 july 2021..

..26 may 2021..
Re-geared 66622 proceeds through Berkley Marsh on the final leg of its journey from Exeter Riverside Yard (dept @15:42) to Whatley as '7C28'. The procedure now is to not reverse in Westbury as previously but to continue on to the sidings at the old now disused Cement Works and reverse direction there.Freightliner having taken these on for reversals and wagon storage a few months ago. This is due to DB attempting to overcharge for using the sidings in Westbury for this function.

Now we are in the 2nd week of Lockdown-3 and currently my only option for the odd photograph is Clink Road Junction just 200 yards from Home..Cycling is out for now because it's too damned cold and I most certainly won't abuse the situation by using my car for currently unallowed purposes. So here is G&W Orange 66623 with '6C58' the 11:45 from Oxford-Banbury Road to Whatley Empties.Thankfully the first sun for quite some time (days in fact) emerged to coincide with its passing.

On a winter's afternoon when there very little hope of any sunlight 66601 'The Hope Valley' drops down over the crest of the Upton Scudamore Incline with '6V62' the 13:21 from Southampton to Whatley Quarry empty boxes. Interestingly the code number for this working '6V62' was for many years used on the famed 'Fawley Tanks' that supplied fuel and bitumen to depots in Cornwall.

..26 august 2020..
This is an 'STP' working taking a defective wagon to Whatley for repair. It was deemed as failed this morning at Westbury whilst in the train going to Fareham. Here it appears to be listed as '6V16' as the 17:37 from Westbury down to Whatley Quarry. 66610 with its well rust stained front-end was doing the duty.
..26 august 2020..
Freightliner's HH regeared 66603 drones through Bratton on the B&H with '6A27' the 06:15 from East Usk Yard in Newport to Hayes & Harlington-Tarmac Sdg's,Nice to see an almost complete set of Freightliners own green aggregate wagons with just a few white interlopers.Certainly a change from FY,Hanson or Touax for sure.

This working brought Freightliner's own bogie hoppers to the Mendip Quarries. This is the loaded 'out' trip running as a 'vstp' from Whatley (17:05) but 75minutes late to Westbury Down-TC as '6Z82' Obviously going on later but not sure where too?'Regeared FL-HH 66603 was going to job.Behind it is '6C76' waiting to gain access to the Whatley Branch after this train had passed.
..6 august 2020..
Re-geared 66603 works '7V16' the 11:56 from Fareham to Whjatley past Pot Lane ner Frome. The Buddleia bush in the foreground is going to be a problem quite soon, certainly before 2021.Therefore a spot of gardening will be necessary in the near future!
..20 july 2020..
'7C28' the 15:42 from Exeter-Riverside Yard heads for Whatley after reversing at Westbury. The engine 66603 being one of the re-geared versions which are probably quite suited to hauling heavy loads of aggregate at reduced speeds.Seen at Berkley nr Frome.
..2 july 2020..
66621 draws the 15:42 from Exeter Riverside Yard to Whatley past Berkley Marsh. This proved to be the final train of the evening as the next three were all due to go to Merehead but the line was closed due to buckled rails at East Somerset Junction. All traffic wasn't to resume for 24 hours.Temperatures in excess of 30 degrees being the culprit.
..25 june 2020..
The sole 66/6 in G&W-Orange 66623 which was once 'Bill Bolsover' in Bardon-Blue livery approaches Clink Road Junction with '6C48' the 12:50 from Appleford to Whatley Quarry. Currently it's quite nice to see a different livery but give it a couple of years and we will all be pretty sick of it!
..2 june 2020..
Freightliners rusty regeared regular on the B&H these days 66610 was again on '6V18' the 11:25 from Allington-ARC going to Whatley Quarry.Seen passing Woodborough just west of Pewsey on the B&H. ..27 may 2020..
Plain green regeared 66610 worked '6V18' the 11:25 from Allington-ARC to Whatley Quarry again today. This version of the GM-66 seems to cope quite well with the loads out of the Mendip Quarries. Not as strong as the Class 59's but reasonably satisfactory.Seen here off the Frome Bypass overbridge at Clink.
..19 may 2020..
G&W 66623 showing off its fifth-door approaches Clink Road Junction with '6C48' the 12:50 from Appleford Sdg's to Whatley Quarry.
..18 may 2020..

Scabby looking re-geared FL-66610 with its equally tatty rake of 'jna' boxes slows for Clink Road Junction working '6C48' the 15:07 from Appleford.Destination being Whatley. This location being a brisk 1-mile of cycle exercise from my house.
..4 may 2020..
66622 is seen with '7V62' the empties--13:21 from Southampton Up Yard going back to Whatley Quarry.Seen inevitably at Clink Road. The threatening storm clouds having just passed over!
..1 may 2020..
Whilst every man and his dog were probably ignorng the current 'social distancing' regulations scrabbling for a shot of the Blue-60 working '6Z91' up the Scudamore incline I remained within exercising distance of my address and managed this shot of 66623 in G&W orange with '6V18' the 11:25 from Allington to Whatley Quarry. This passed here at Clink at about the same time as '6Z91' was approaching Warminster about 4 miles away.
..21 april 2020..
This footpath only occupation bridge is conveniently located in the wooded area quite close to my home so I was able to make use of my now regular afternoon solitary exercise walk allowed by the 'lockdown' advice to the local Budgens Mini-Mart to coincide with this train passing.Use of OTT and RTT makes this easily achievable. In fact I only had to wait for less than a few minutes!... So here is 66623 the local G&W liveried 66/6 with '6V18' the 11:25 from Allington-ARC going down to Whatley Quarry. It can only be a matter of days now before the construction industry grinds to a halt during the current health crisis..I hope so for all our sake's......
..26 march 2020..
Freightliners G&W liveried 66623 again with '7V62' the 13:21 from Southampton Up yard to Whatley Quarry. This time seen at Clink after its reversal in Westbury.
..23 march 2020..
With the sun finally beginning to make it look like Spring is in the air Freightliner's 66623 in the Orange G&W livery passes Towns End Farm Crossing in Wylye with '7V62' the 13:21 from Southampton Up Yard to Whatley Quarry empty boxes.Nice to finally get a decent shot of this loco before we are all forced to 'Self Isolate' permanantly for up to 12 weeks. God what a mess! (As of 20:30 that evening we were!!!!!!)
..23 march 2020..
Regeared 66/6 variant 66615 c/w a rust stained front-end heads '6V18' the 11:25 from Allington-ARC to Whatley Quarry empties.Note the 2nd wagon has had a complete graffiti make-over.How these people ?? get away with it when such a pain-tjob must take many hours to perpetrate is beyond me.I though railway yards were a ring of steel these day.About time there was some machine gun towers installed to sort it all out!
..16 march 2020..
..(The wider shot) The local G&W Orange loco 66623 finally worked a train that didn't pass through my town in darkness! Here the former Bardon liveried 'Bill Bolsover' approaches Clink Roiad Junction with '6V18' the 11:25 from Allington-ARC going down to Whatley Quarry.
..12 march 2020..
The local G&W Orange loco 66623 finally worked a train that didn't pass through my town in darkness! Here the former Bardon liveried 'Bill Bolsover' approaches Clink Roiad Junction with '6V18' the 11:25 from Allington-ARC going down to Whatley Quarry.
..12 march 2020..
66623 now sports G&W Orange colours for Freightliner. Here it is seen working ''6V62' (a headcode once assoc with the famed Fawley tanks to Plymouth) but now matched to the 13:18 from Southampton Up yard to Whatley Quarry empties stone boxes.Pictured here at Arn Hill nr warminster about to drop down the Upton Scudamore bank into Westbury just 4 miles away.
..12 february 2020..
'4O57' the 13:29 from Wentloog to Southampton-MCT is pictured over the lengthening shadows shortly after passing through Trowbridge.A nicely loaded train consisting of mainly mega-fret's along with a few 'pocket' wagons. These being necessary due to the larger containers that are now quite common being out of gauge on this route if fitted to standard Freightliner-Flats.Unusually a re-geared version 66606 was in use on this service today.
..3 january 2020..
This is an 'STP' Saturday working by Freightliner from Appleford (15:10 away) going to Whatley Quarry F-liner HH.Viewed at Clink where the Freightliner-Green 66605 blends in nicely with the surrounding bushes and shrubs.Lets hope they get a few repainted into G&W orange before too long,That certainly won't blend into the background for sure!
..31 august 2019..
And so it begins!!! This is Freightliner's regeared- 66610 working a former DB duty.It is the 12:41 from Chichester to Merehead Quarry. Its reporting number being '7V07'.It seems that FL are already beginning to take over some of the Mendip Stone work somewhat prematurely given that the DB contract still has several months to run? Viewed at Clink Road Junction. This could very well be the first 'daylight' Mendip aggregate working ever by Freightliner of a former DB duty? so quite significant really. ---21 august 2019---.
It was a seemingly fairly cloudless evening here at Berkley Marsh until this working '6C89' with G&W 66623 heading the 18:16 from Stoke Gifford to Whatley Quarry departed Westbury just a few minutes earlier.--------.It was the biggest, blackest, slowest moving cloud all evening-----typical!!! Anyway being the first G&W GM I have pictured here locally it was just about worth a record shot albeit very dull which was a pity!
..12 july 2019..
Re-geared 66614 '1916-POPPY-2016' more at home working out of Peak Forest or cement trains to Theale for the Peaks finds itself with a load of aggregates coming out of Whatley Quarry going to Stoke Gifford as '6Z43' the 10:00 off.No doubt this small sub-class (66/6) will become fairly regular fare around here when G&W takeover from DB in the Mendips later this year.Pictured at Fairwood on the approach to Westbury.
..10 may 2019..
A new era is beginning to happen out of the Mendip Quarries. Here is my first sighting of a Freightliner operated aggregate working from Whatley Quarry. Wisely G&W have seen fit to use a re-geared 66/6 variant on this type of working (Trying to make a favourable impression no doubt). For sure in the Autumn where FL take over from DB this GM version will be quite common! So here is 66621 in 'heritage' FL-Green with '6Z82' the 09:50 from Whatley Quarry going to Newport-East Usk Yard. The wagons being most definitely Freightliners own! Viewed in an extreemly lucky gap in the almost 85% cloud coverage.
..25 april 2019..
Today unusually a Freightliner operated bulk cement train (VSTP) ran from Westbury Cement Sidings (Tarmac) going up to Tunstead at Peak Forest,(this being the return empties). It departed as '6M36' at 12:20 with HH re-geared 66607 in charge. The make-up was a monster load of 25-JGA bogies, certainly a change from the usual PCA's from Aberthaw! The location seen here being Oldfield Park in Bath.
..23 april 2019..
With Dove Holes Quarry as a backdrop this pair of Freightliners 66622/66616 rolls past with an STP movement from Hope (Earles Sidings) departing at 14:05 going down to Tunstead.GBRf's 66764 was in the loading line taking on aggregates whilst 56081 was sitting 'cold' in the loco headshunt.
..5 april 2019..
Here we see of foretaste of what to expect on Freightliner operated aggregate trains out of the Mendips this autumn! This is the re-geared HH 66618 'Railway Illustrated Annual Photographic Awards-Alan Barnes' with a long set of brand new boxes all liveried up in the G&W/Freightliner's new colours. It was working a '6V44' from Southampton Up Yard (FL) to Bristol East Depot (DB).Seen at Bapton in the Wylye Valley.
1 april 2019..
Making a rare appearence in this area these days is a 66/6 regeared variant of the standard Freightliner GM-Shed. Here is 66615 working '6C72' the 08:20 from Taunton-Fairwater Yard going up to Westbury with a small load of just four JJA-type hoppers for ballast replenishment.Pictured passing Berkley Marsh nr Frome.
..21 june 2018..
A pretty work stained looking 66621 brings '6M91' the 11:13 from Theale to Hope-Earles Sdg's through Sonning Cutting not long after the start of its journey returning empty bogie cement tanks to base for a reload.
..09 august 2016..
Regeared FL-HH 66615 passes under London Road in Sonning with '6M91' the 11:11 from Theale returning emptied cement bogie tanks to Earles Sidings in the Hope Valley.
..06 august 2016..
Re-geared Freightliner-66604 heads '6M91' the 13:36 from Theale returning empty cement bogies to Hope (Earles Sidings) for a refill.Seen heading east at Ruscombe in the Thames-Valley.Note the monster post behind designed to support a few small wires. It could actually be used as a support pole for an Oil-Rig such are its dimensions!
..05 may 2016..
Here is something that is set to become increasingly rare on the UK Rail Network. Due to increased carbon taxes/EU pressures and a general swing away from fossil fuels producing electricity coal trains are in steep steep decline.Indeed 2015 will see the complete end in the UK of Deep Mining with the final three Collieries closing this year.Rumour has it coal will be a total thing of the past by 2020!!!!!!!! Amazing and quite sad.....Anyway here is 66613 working '6M49' from Immingham Import-Terminal FLL going to Rugeley-B Power Station loaded with imported pulverized coal.Pictured at Elford Loops.
..31 july 2015..
The view from the footpath bridge at Breadcott Lane in White Waltham has recently been greatly enhanced by heavy vegetation removal in preparation for installation of the OHLE in the next year or so.In the meantime a few more decent shot can be had from here. Here is the recently de-branded ex Bardon Aggregates but now just liveried as 'Freightliner' 66623 with '6V94' the 07:35 loaded cement from Hope-Earles Sidings heading for Theale-Lefarge.A pretty heavy train this (2000 tons) given the nature of the product being carried.
..18 february 2015..
Todays Schenker's '6V41' from Eastleigh to Westbury was unusually in the hands of Freightliner's 66615.I can only assume this is a temporary 'Hire-in' due to loco shortages for DBS.Typically it was mega dull so what you see is what you get. Location is of coarse Arn-Hill nr Warminster.
..09 october 2014..
66618 'Railway Illustrated-Annual Photographic Awards (Alan Barnes)' runs into Westbury with '6Y63' from Goring & Streatley from where it departed at 10:36.Its load comprising of 4-sets of HQA's,20 bogies in total. All wearing various shades of yellow and rust! The front end of 66618 was just as bad, heavy corrosion area's and very stained from rampant streaks of rust!.No doubt an early candidate for Freightliners current programme of smartening up their now ageing fleet.
..28 september 2014..
Heavyweight 66603+HOBC gets '6V73' underway after a refill at the VQ in Westbury. It then reverses up the 'Ditch' on the Trowbridge line to wait time. Its booked slot is 12:12 off but today was delayed by some 15 minutes due to a late running HST from Paddington.
..12 september 2014..
HH-66619 draws its loaded HOBC-set out of the Virtual-Quarry at Westbury in readiness for the almost immediate departure back to Taunton-Fairwater Yard.Today it was routed via Bristol. This working '6C73' left at 12:03,3 minutes after this shot was taken.
..11 august 2014..
As usual as of late, hard working 66603 was in charge of '6C72' from Taunton's Fairwater Yard up to Westbury-VQ for a refill.Since it was running particularly early the use of bridge number-2 of the Berkley/Clink set of 5 was the most appropriate given the favourable angle. Also a more 'head-on' angle enabled the entire HOBC train to be pictured.
..30 july 2014..
66619 brings up the rear of this very long HOBC working '6Y07' from Taunton's Fairwater yard going to Grateley on an overnight job.A well out of sight 66603 was leading as it passed Berkley-Marsh going to Westbury prior to reversal before continuing on down to the Southern.
..29 july 2014..
Such is the intensity of freight sometimes along this line through Berkley Marsh workings can sometimes be less than 5 minutes apart. This train '6C72' from Taunton's Fairwater Yard to Westbury was running that close behind '6M20'. Regeared 66603 was doing the honours hauling an HOBC to get refilled in the VQ at Westbury.
..29 july 2014..
66619 accelerates away from Fairwood Junction heading back to Taunton's Fairwater Yard with '6C73',the daily refill tripper to Westbury for the HOBC.As can be seen the NR gardeners have been very busy here and surprisingly tidy as well.
..10 july 2014..
A quick dash across the main road here at Arn Hill enabled a 'Going away shot' of '6Y07' as it was heading slowly south towards Warminster.Plenty of time to nip across the road as the train took nearly 30 seconds to pass due to its extreme length. 66619 was on the back whilst 66603 was but a mere speck in the distance leading!Grateley was the destination from Taunton's Fairwater Yard. The working of coarse had to reverse at Westbury to gain this route. It did this via Heywood Road Junction and the Westbury avoiding line.
..09 july 2014..
Here is '6Y07' the 17:47 from Tauntons Fairwater Yard going to Grateley for some overnight track maintenence in that area. This heavy and long HOBC required the use of a pair of 66/6's.66603 was leading here at Arn Hill nr Warminster with an out of sight 66619 on the back.
..09 july 2014..
'6C72' from Taunton's Fairwater-Yard to Westbury-VQ passes Fairwood-Junction.Regeared heavyweight 66619 was in charge of a particularly smart looking 'HOBC'. Interestingly only about 6 of the 24 or so hoppers required refilling. However I presume the policy is to keep it completely loaded at all times hence the regular trips to Westbury.
..07 july 2014..
Home from the Cruise on Saturday, straight out Sunday morning for a couple of shots! Here is FL-HH 66619 on '6Y08' the 09:15 from Ashchurch running to Westbury. Load was spent ballast in a fair sized rake of JNA's.The working is seen rounding the curve on the approach to Westbury at Hawkeridge.

..25 february 2014..
'The Hope Valley' 66601 trundles '6C72' up through Berkley Marsh to Westbury from Taunton for a refill of ballast at the Virtual Quarry there. The Doyen of the regeared 66/6 series now looking pretty rusty around the cab-end area!
..21 february 2014..
66601 'The Hope Valley' eases through the station as it gets '6C73' from here back down to Tauntons Fairwater-Yard underway. This 1/2 HOBC had just been reloaded with fresh ballast from the Virtual-Quarry situated here at Westbury.
..17 february 2014..
'6C84' from Taunton to Westbury eases past Fairwood with its load of 10 very rusty NR-yellow HQA's.Another refill required at the Virtual Quarry there at Westbury.Regeared FL-HH 66607 doing the duty.
..09 january 2014..
'6M40' from Westbury-VQ going to Stud Farm invariably uses one of the 66/6 regeared variants 66610.This can be a seriously heavy train when returning fully loaded with ballast from up in the midlands. Here that working is about to set off from Westbury in torrential rain, hence the reason I was sheltering under the canopy. No Canon-EOS with me today so my Samsung-Galaxy S3 Mobile-Phone did the job instead....a useful stand-in (If the train isn't moving!)
..16 october 2013..
'6C73' the reloaded HOBC powers away from Fairwood-Junction and is about to pass over the Fairwood Farm Crossing as it heads back down to Taunton's Fairwater Yard. FL-HH 66621 being on the duty today.
..03 september 2013..
Hard on the heels of '7A09' at Clink nr Frome (well actually 7 minutes later) was '6C72' coming up from Taunton going to Westbury-VQ for a refill.Today the HOBC was powered by 66614,one of the HH regeared versions of the GM breed.
..02 september 2013..
This working '6Z30' popped up with very little warning but a headlong dash across the sprawl that is Southampton enabled us to get into postion here at Redbridge few minutes before its passing. Unique 66623 'Bill Bolsover' in its original custom blue/green livery was working a Westbury to Eastleigh Engineering duty. These FL-HH jobs are now happening almost daily whereas a few years ago were unheard of.It really does seem that FL are slowly taking over the Infrastructure work out of Westbury.Slowly but ever so surely!
..22 august 2013..
FL-HH 66621 creeps out of Westbury with '6C73' from the VQ there with a refilled part-HOBC going to Taunton's Fairwater Yard.Pictured at Fairwood nr Westbury.
..25 july 2013..
This working '6Y13' was held outside the station at Westbury to allow an HST to enter and leave the station.Hence I was able to nip around to the bridge overlooking the Powerbox there for a second bite of this very sunny apple. So here again is the 14:15 off Gloucester rumbling by to its destination a few hundred yards away.66604/66607 being the combination.
..21 july 2013..
Top 'N' Tail 66604 and 66607 slowly approach Westbury at Hawkeridge-Junction with '6Y13' from Gloucester.Yet another working operated by the 'Green Team'.
..21 july 2013..
Here is the 09:16 off Theale to Hope-Earles Sidings empty cement 'PCA-s'.It is seen just after passing Twyford heading east towards London. Power was provided by regeared 66621 from Freightliner.
..25 may 2013..
66623 the one-off Bardon-Blue 'Bill Bolsover' powers down past Frome returning to Taunton's Fairwater-Yard with its replenished part HOBC.The working is '6C73'.Note the very threatening sky in the background, this came to nothing and in fact despite appearances the sun was actually in a nice big patch of blue when this working passed me!
..15 may 2013..
Another Freightliner powered service barely 10 minutes after the previous one was '6C73' with 66604 taking the replenished part-HOBC back to Taunton's Fairwater-Yard.No looking over your shoulder today worrying about cloud banks and floaters! It was a completely china-blue sky just like we all dream about!
..07 may 2013..
An interesting 'Z' working today was this one taking the Network-Rail 'IOA-s' that usually do the Westbury to Stud Farm ballast trips down to Exeter-Riverside Yard. Here is the one-off liveried 66623 in Bardon-Blue speeding down through Frome shortly after departing Westbury with '6Z40'.Kicking up quite a dust haze as it goes.Train is seen at Berkley-Marsh.
..07 may 2013..

..07 may 2013..
Scruffy 66603 heads '6M40' from Westbury heading for Stud Farm for a refill of ballast to keep the Wiltshire VQ topped up.It is seen passing Shrivenham Station where the old platform faces still betray the fact that that was once a four track station location!
..30 april 2013..
This particular working is not a diversion but uses this route every day. This is '6M40' the 11:56 from Westbury going to Stud Farm for another refill of ballast to keep the Westbury-VQ well supplied. It is invariably a 66/6 working as the loadings involved are probably a bit of a struggle for one of the higher-geared 66/5's. So here is 66604 passing Broughton-Gifford between Bradford-Junction and Thingley with its load of empty 'IOA-s' wearing their distinctive NR-livery.
..03 april 2013..
A very workstained 66616 heads '6C72' up to Westbury-VQ from Taunton. The HOBC again requiring a top-up.Seen passing Styles Hill in Frome.

..12 march 2013..

..19 february 2013..
The briefest of bright patches at Shrivenham coincided with the passing of '6V60' from Angerstein-Wharf going to Bristol Barrow Road.Use of a 200mm lens plus a substantial crop was needed to obtain even this glimmer of light on the subject. Freightliners 66610 is viewed hauling its set of heavily graffitied stone hoppers.
..16 february 2013..
The mega-long HOBC is seen at Claverton nr Bathampton in the Limpley Stoke Valley.A difficult train to photograph in its entirety particularly at this time of year! Here is 66620 with 66618 DOR way out of sight about 1/2 a mile away to the rear heading '6Y11' from Alstone Up Goods Loop nr Cheltenham going to Fairwater-Yard Taunton via Westbury. The scene being the nice clear field at Claverton.Note that Railtrack have had a clearance session for signal sighting purposes removing several rather large bushes and shrubs

..18 november 2012..
Even at 15:45 in the afternoon now that the clocks have reverted to GMT the sun is getting rather low in the sky.Hence this golden-glint type shot of the double rescue 66's 66622 and 66547 pushing the dead 47245 into the yards at Westbury. This old no-heat 47 has been fairly reliable all this summer,in fact this is the first time I can recall it having a failure.
..02 november 2012..
Regeared HH 66602 rumbles over the Viaduct on the approach to Bath-Spa with '6B37' from Theale returning empty hoppers to Pengham in S-Wales. Note how all the Viaduct Arches have been converted into small Industrial Units generating many thousands of pounds per month for Railtrack in rental. Its a pity they don't spend some of it keeping the shrubs cut back that are growing on the viaduct!
..16 october 2012..
I just happened to catch a glimpse of the yellow wagons in the distance as I was driving over the bypass bridge at Clink nr Frome. So a grab shot was in order. This is '6C73' the back working to '6C72' featured earlier.Same Loco,66622 only this end is not quite so scabby as the other!Train returning to Taunton from Westbury-VQ.

'Bill Bolsover' appears in Westbury several times a week as it is currently based at Taunton-Fairwater.Here it is seen returning to Taunton with the reloaded 'HOBC' on '6C73'.A nice variation on the Freightliner-HH Livery.Such a pity nobody ever bothers to wipe a wet rag over it occasionally. The train with 66623 viewed at Berkley-Marsh nr Frome going south. ..23 august 2012..
Blue-66623 'Billy Bardon' dodges the shadows as it passes Clink-Junction heading for the Virtual-Quarry at Westbury from Taunton. This working '6C72' is still running despite persistant rumours about the future of the Fairwater-Yard Complex. Now almost all of the South-West mainline tracks has been renewed it was though that the TRT's and HOBC would be moving on to pasture new.Parkeston-Quay in East Anglia being the suggested next location

'6V73' from Westbury-VQ back down to Taunton-Fairwater-Yard today consisted of a substantial section of the HOBC train.Loco was 66618,one of the re-geared 66/6 variants.Apparantly Taunton's busy Yard run by Freightliner is soon to close and the infrastructure trains allocated there moved on to a new base.Probably because most of the renewal work within range of the worktrains based there is nearly all completed.Seen at Fairwood-Junction nr Westbury.
