Class 59/0 (After 01 August 2020)
The Engines that started the GM Revolution in the UK. 5 built but 59003 was exported to Germany in 1997.However in 2015 it was repatriated and has started working in the UK for GBRf leaving 4 working out of Merehead for Aggregate-Industries who took over Foster-Yeomans.
After some time away 59003 has returned to its spiritual home-Westbury and is now back on its regular duty the 10:14 from Westbury to Eastleigh,today as '6O39' going via the Romsey to Eastleigh direct route.View here climbing up through Dilton Marsh Halt.

With the strong evening sunlight still beating down even at 20:00 I was tempted out yet again for this shot of the GM-Prototype Grandaddy 59001 (Can this loco really now be 35 years old?) returning to Whatley Quarry on '6C62' with empties from Oxford Banbury Road that departed there at 16:50.

Just 10 minutes after 59203 on '7V07' had passed another Merehead bound train of empties passed Berkley as well.This train coming from Acton-TC at 15:25 as '7C64'.Loco this time was 59002 'Alan J Day' in 'AI' colours.

The 'Westbury-Pet' GBRf's 59003 was today back on its regular duty the Westbury to Eastleigh and return daily engineering tripper. Here it is on the return leg '6V41' the 14:48 from Eastleigh East Yard to Westbury at the top of the Upton Scudamore Incline about to drop down to Westbury. Load today included a large 'Kirow' type crane and a CWR-Set.

'Alan J Day' 59002 today put in an appearance on '7V07' the 12:40 from Chichester returning empties to Merehead.Here seen in the ever lengthening shadows at Clink at approx 16:00 showing how the light is now improving quite a lot in this quite steep cutting.Interestingly this is the first 'AI' I have pictured since mid-Oct 2020 just over 4 months ago.Such is the effect of crap weather and government movement restrictions!

Having satisfied myself that this working '6C31' the 12:06 from Theale to Whatley was going via Westbury Station and not the Avoider I came here to Fairwood for its departure from the station at Westbury. No clue as to what was hauling it so had to be happy with 59002 'Alan J Day' which was quite nice.

This afternoon's '6C76' ran from Acton-TC (14:39 off) to Whatley via Swindon for some reason.This meant it passed here some 35 minutes down on time.'Yeoman Endeavour' 59001 which incidentally is now the only original 59/0 still working out of the Mendip Quarries with its original nameplates is seen at Clink slowing for the junction there. ..6 august 2020..
59002 catches a brief glimpse of sunlight as it passes Bratton on the B&H with '6C31' the 10:08 from Theale heading for Whatley Quarry.This cuuting was well cleared out just last year but already rampant lineside bush growth is again becoming a problem!
