EWS & DBS (After 01 August 2020)
The Original 66 type to enter the Country in 1998. Of the original 250 in the UK 64 now in France,15 are in Poland and just one has been withdrawn due to crash damage leaving just 170 in use in the UK
Here are the local 'filthy friends' working '3J13' the 08:50 from Westbury to St Blazey via an initial trip down the Wylye Valley to Salisbury. This working being uneffected by yesterdays collision at Salisbury Tunnel Junction as it reverses in Salisbury Station.66126 leads with 66098 sandwiching the single RHTT-Set.----1 november 2021------
DB still retains a 'toe hold' for stone traffic on the B&H after it disasterously lost the Mendip-Contracts nearly 2 years ago. Here is '6M15' the 07:07 from Tytherington Quarry in North bristol going to Calvert with a load of screened stone.Note the blue JNA's not Mendip wagons as from years gone by. Viewed passing Woodborough on the main.

How times have changed around Westbury & Frome. This is the first DB/EWS working I have seen here in over 8 weeks and only the 2nd in 8 months!!!!! Poor old EWS/DB certainly have been totally eclipsed by Freightliner/Colas &GBRf nowadays. Anyway here is 66003(The first production GM Class-66 for EWS) with an MPV move from Didcot (09:05 off) going down to Exeter-Riverside. DR98907/DR98957 being the MPV's involved. Seen at an annoyingly rather dull Styles Hill on the Frome Avoiding Line.
..11 july 2021..
66093 is now showing its age since it was introduced well over 20 years ago.In fact the original livery as well as being fully intact albeit very scabby shows no DB ownership decals whatsoever! Anyway here it is passing Southampton with '4M71' the 09:49 from Southampton Western docks (berth 109) going up to Birch Coppice with a healthly loaded train of boxes.
..14 june 2021..
Once the dominant freight operator on this stretch of line DB is now a very minor player these days. Here is 66011 still wearing its original EWS colours from well over 22 years in service working '3Z15' an STP from St Blazey up to Didcot Fueling Point moving an MPV DR98907/98957.Viewed in to low evening light passing Clink nr Frome. This is my first shot of a DB owned loco through here now for over 6 months. How times have changed!
..17 may 2021..
'6V03' the 09:29 from Dee Marsh to Margam empty steel working passes Hereford with EWS liveried 66067 in charge.
..9 april 2021..
66150 looks quite immaculale powering '6V98' the 15:35 from Westbury to St Erth via Penzance through the late afternoon gloomyness at Masters Farm Crossing nr Fairwood.66085 which was also immaculate was on the rear. This loco has been converted experimentally to run on 'HVO' 'hydrogenerated vegetable oil' and carries the logo 'We are the Future' on its flanks........Not sure if that applies to the Westbury Area as 'DB' is by far the rarest livery seen around there these days since they lost the Mendip Quarry Contracts just a year or so ago!
..20 december 2020..
Doyen of the UKJ's GM fleet 66001 is pictured parked outside the DB crew offices at Westbury Station. Now the Quarries are the domain of Freightliner this was quite a surprise seeing it parked up here.Apparantly it did a light-engine move from here to Tytherington Quarry and here earlier, possible a crew training duty?
..2 december 2020..
The RHTT season is now just a week or so away from ending for yet another year.Amazingly this pair of now extreemly filthy EWS-GM's 66151 and 66155 have been glued to this duty from Day-1,which is quite unusual given previous years experience. So here are the 2 GM's working away from Westbury with '3J13' the 08:50 from Westbury (via Salisbury) to St Blazey LIP. Viewed at a pretty brown looking Fairwood nr Westbury.
..1 december 2020..
Having been stuck indoors now for 5 days a trip to Avoncliff on the K&A Canal for a spot of exercise produced this rather dull shot of '6B33' the 12:15 from Theale to Robeston discharged fuels tanks hauled by DB's 66074 rather than the expected Class-60. Lighting was incredibly dire requiring 1600-iso and a barely sufficient 500@f4.
..11 november 2020..
The filthy pairing 66151/66155 continue to work the St Blazey based RHTT.Here seen on '3j13' the 08:50 from Westbury back down to St Blazey.Seen amongst the green fiels nr Frome.
..5 november 2020..
The local RHTT '3J13' is still currently still using this now ultra grimy pairing of DB EWS liveried-GM's 66151 &66155.Here on the Frome Avoiding Line at Styles Hill. Its schedule for this run being 08:50 from Westbury to St Blazey-L.I.P via Salisbury and the Wylye Valley.
..2 november 2020..
66151 & 66155 now in full RHTT-livery blend in nicely with the autumnal scene here at Clink in Frome..The train '3J13' is the return to St Blazey via Salisbury from Westbury.Due to last weekends return to GMT this shot is now possible for this working here.
..26 october 2020..
The now ultra filthy pairing of 66151 and 66155 pass Styles Hill on the Frome Avoiding Line with the RHTT duty '3J13' that departed Westbury at 08:50 going to St Blazey via a trip up the Wylye Valley to Salisbury and return.
..19 october 2020..
Yes its RHTT season again. This is the local version '3J13' This run being the 08:50 from Westbury to St Blazey via a trip up the Wylye valley to Salisbury and return before continueing west.Loco's involved being 66151 still in full EWS livery and 66155 on the rear. Pictured in a rather lucky puddle of sunlight at Witham Friary west of Frome.
..7 october 2020..
After a brief pause in Eastleigh East Yard '4O21' the 09:15 from Trafford Park to Southampton-Western Docks berth-109 passes through Eastleigh Station. The loco 66152 was the first DB Schenker loco to receive the DB-Red livery some eleven years or so ago.It also still carries the DB Schenker logo on its flanks.
..18 september 2020..
A nicely clean 66097 still carrying DB-Schenker Identity passes Horseshoe Bridge in Southampton with '4O21' the 09:15 from Trafford Park going to the Western Docks Berth 109.
..14 september 2020..
66139 smokes its way through St Denys with '4E68' the 16:15 from Southampton Western Docks Berth 109 heading for Wakefield Europort.Note how the old canopies here at this station still remain prety much as built. No plastic cladding or spiky fencing whatsoever.....Nice.
..14 september 2020..
DB's 66139 runs through Southampton Central with '4044' the 05:50 from Didcot going to Berth 109 in the Western Docks. The train being well loaded with boxes right behind the loco which was a bit of a bonus.
..14 september 2020..
DB-Red 66175 leads '6W01' returning a large crane to Westbury from Lostwithiel (15:00 off).66085(anorther DB-red one) being the rear loco viewed as it passes Berkley Marsh with the Westbury White Horse over 6 miles away as a backdrop.
..13 september 2020..
DB's 66175 carrying the name 'Rail Riders Express' is seen at Clink nr Frome operating '6W02' the 16:43 from Westbury going down to Lostwithiel in deepest Cornwall.66112 was on the rear sandwiching 2 sets of loaded HQA's.
..12 september 2020..
'6C03' the fully loaded 'pongliner' from Northolt (09:33 off) to Severnside-SITA passes Lavington on the B&H.66092 with an unseen 66061 were in charge. The scapyard in the far distance used to be the site of the now long closed Lavington Station.
..2 september 2020..
Today's Pongliner '6C03' ran from Northolt (dept @09:33) going to SITA-Severnside.EWS-66006 doing the job today.Caught in a lucky splash of sunshine passing Bratton on the B&H.
