This is a Class-60 powered loaded aggregate out of Merehead which makes for a nice change from the endless FL dross we now get most of the time. This may become a regular working with DCR taking empty JNA's into Merehead from Willesden and returning fully loaded. So here is 60029 'Ben Nevis with '6Z61' the 16:31 from Merehead to Willesden.Viewed at Clink nr Frome, somewhat backlit but still worth it given the rare Mendip traction!

This working was the reason I cycled the 17 miles 'round trip' from Frome for! DCR's 60055 'Thomas Barnado' is viewed arriving at Westbury adjacent the Power Signal box there. The working is '6Z50' the 09:53 from Willesden to Westbury. The train comprising of a full set a 'Cappach' JNA boxes that are pleasantly free of grafitti unlike the local quarry wagon fleet these days!

Here is the 'dead; 60055 on the rear of '6Z60 hauled by 60046 going up to Willesden 3 days later than planned from Newton Abbot-Hackney Yard (13:36 departure). Apparantly 60055 suffered a failed starter motor so when it tried to restart next day to work up to Willesden it couldn't! Hence this T-n-T set up.
..21 march 2022..
60046 'William Wilberforce' draws '6Z60' the 13:36 from Newton Abbot-Hackney Yard to Willesden DC Rail Sdg's loaded stone up through Frome at Berkley on the first run of this new flow from NTA.This was supposed to leave Newton Abbot 3 days ago but the loco that took the train down on the 17th 60055 suffered a failure thus 60046 was sent down to rescue it plus the defective loco which is actually just visible on the rear of the train.
..21 march 2022..

..7 july 2021..
How could I resist a second shot of the still quite immaculate DC-Rail owned 60029 'Ben Nevis' as it curves away from Hawkeridge Junction heading for the B&H with '6Z24' the 14:59 from Bristol Freightliner Terminal (that now doubles as an aggregate loading point) and Willesden DCR-Sidings in London.Quite nice to see a set of aggregate wagons that have not been utterly defaced by the nobheads with their spray cans!

The Blue Cappagh 'Tug' 60028 rolls around the curve off of Hawkeridge Junction with '6Z24' the 14:59 from Bristol Freightliner Depot going up to Willesden DC Rail Sidings with a load of aggregates. Sadly the light was crap yet again for this working for me.I'll get it eventually one day!
..2 june 2021..
The currently unique 'Cappagh' liveried 60028 heads a strning of indentically liveried JNA's loaded with aggregates running as '6Z24' the 14:59 from Bristol West's ex-Freightliner Depot going up to Willesden.Viewed passing the site of the now long gone station at bratton on the B&H.Shame the light was so poor.
..12 may 2021..
On what turned out to be the crappiest day of the week this loco 60028 in 'Cappagh-Blue' worked the 14:59 from Bristol-FL Depot to Willesden '6Z24' for DC-Rail.Sadly it was necessary to have to use 800-iso setting in the dull drizzly dank conditions..However, here is 60028 rounding the bend at Ladydown nr Trowbridge with its matching set of virtually brand new Cappagh liveried loaded JNA's..
,,28 april 2021..
DB/EWS that until a few years ago were the dominant freight operator at Westbury to the virtual exclusion of all others. How things have changed!.The only evidence of DB at Westbury these days is a rake of seemingly abandoned EWS-Coal Hoppers dumped in the siding next to the Power-Box.Even their redundant traction once left abandoned at Totton is now working again with other operators and appearing in Westbury...What a changed situation?? So here is 60046 'William Wilberforce' departing Westbury for Bristol FL Depot on a crew training run.It was booked away from here as '0Z63' at 12:57 but actually departed about 30 minutes early.
..23 april 2021..
60046 'William Wilberforce' comes under Church Road at heywood with the newly introduced flow from Bristol Freightliner Depot to Willesden via the B&H. The train is coded as '6Z24' and is a 14:59 depaerture from Bristol.Note the brand new 'Cappach' Blue liveried 'JNA's... ,,21 april 2021..
'Thomas Barnardo' 60055 the Ex-DB 'Tug' dragged from the jaws of dereliction at Toton just over a year ago by DCR is seen working this new flow from Bristol West-Freightliner Sidings (1`4:59 off) to Willesden working as '6Z24.Viewed with a set of fully loaded brand new blue liveried 'Cappagh' JNA's.Pictured sadly in pretty dire light passing Heywood Village nr Westbury.
..14 april 2021..
This DCR Contract from Westbury Down TC to Southampton Up Yard was just a 3-day contract, this being the final day.Amazingly I got lucky as the sun was shining in a clear blue patch of sky at this prime spot to record its passing. So here is the newest DCR rescued loco from the Toton-Dump 60029 still with its original nameplates 'Ben Nevis' working 6Z91' the 16:28 from Westbury to Southamptom moving spent ballast.Wagons being the almost brand new set of VTG boxes.Viewed on the Upton Scudamore Incline on the reverse curve at Lower Old Dilton.
..9 october 2020..
DCR owned 60029 'Ben Nevis' creeps slowly past Arn Hill having just completed the steep climb from Westbury on the Upton Scudamore Incline.Today it again worked the 16:28 from Westbury Down Yard to Southampton Up Yard with a fully loaded train of 18 new looking blue VTG owned boxes.Amazingly the sun burst through a seemingly blanket of cloudiness to produce this shot!
..8 october 2020..
The Wider version' The hoped for spot of decent lighting just failed to materialize for 60029 'Ben Nevis' the recent recruit to the DCR-Rail Fleet. Here seen creeping up the Upton-Scudamore Bank with a load of spent ballast in brand new VTG-boxes.Note the loco was making good use of the sanding gear to maintain traction on this quite steep incline. The working being '6Z91' the 16:28 from Westbury Down Yard to Southampton Up Yard.

When was the last time a pair of 60's passed each other on the B&H??? Just 15 minutes after 60054 passed going West with '6B33' DCR's 60046 'William Wilberforce' came the other way with '6Z93' the 15:20 from Westbury going to Willesden DC Rail Sidings with a load of recycled ballast.A bit back-lit but still well worth of shot.Seen nr Erlestoke on the B&H. ..22 july 2020..
DCR's nice and clean 60046 'William Wilberforce' was today in charge of '6Z91' the 16:15 from Westbury to Southampton Up Yard transporting spent ballast for re-use in the road reconstruction industry. Here seen at Heytesbury in the Wylye Valley. ..17 july 2020..

..16 july 2020..
These '6Z91' working have been going on now for about 6 weeks but today I decided to do a mammoth exercise bike ride of 10 miles there and back to finally grab a shot on what was a guaranteed cloudless day.Sadly it wasn't the Blue-Cappagh version 60028 but the equally superb looking DCR-Tug 60046 'William Wilberforce'.here seen thudding slowly up past Dilton Marsh with '6Z91' the 16:15 from Westbury to Southampton Up Yard.I'm glad I set off early because this working was about 45 minutes ahead of time as it passed me here.
..6 may 2020..
With the stone flow from Westbury Down-TC to Southampton Up yard restarting again DCR wasted no time in allocating their brand new acquisition 60055 that is freshly out of a refresh/overhaul at Toton after languising in store for many many years! Now in its new DCR colours 'Thomas Barnado' is viewed at Arn Hill nr Warminster just on the cusp of sunset with '6Z91' the 15:24 from Westbury going to Southampton Up Yard with a load of ballast that is to be recycled there.Nice to see the 'Voodoo Tug' back in use after so many years inactivity!
