Class 59/2 (After 01 August 2023)
Former National-Power Engines now owned by Genesee & Wyoming after DBS (was EWS) and still working mainly out of the Mendip Quarries.
Finally my first picture of 2024.Lack of transport,terrible wet weather and other commitments adding to the difficulties of getting lineside! So here is 59201 the final 59/2 to get its long overdue repaint into G&W Tango colours. Here viewed at Clink with '7A60' the 11:43 from Merehead to Colnbrook.Timetable changes recently to the services out of the Mendip Quarries seem to have made shots in the mornings much more difficult to obtain.Time will tell.I wonder if all the customers are happy with the new arrangements that Freightliner have foisted upon them???

'Contra-Jour' was the order of the day for this shot of 59206' in G&W-Orange as it hauled '6A77' the 12:22 from Merehead to Theale loaded aggregate up through Berkley.

Tangoed-59206 now sports rust-stains that have dribbled down from its corroded window surrounds as it passes Clink Road Junction with '7B12' the 11:23 from Merehead bound for Wootton-Bassett.Such is the low sun albeit at Noon here in late October the shadows have barely cleared the well overgrown cutting sides!

59202 approaches Click Road Junction through the increasingly autumnal look cutting here at Clink.The train is '6C50' the 12:45 from Oxford Banbury Road to Whatley Quarry empty JNA's.

Although 59205 has been back into traffic for several weeks now in its new G&W-Orange colours this is my first sighting of it in reasonable sunlight.Here it is working '7B12' the 11:23 from Merehead to Royal Wootton Bassett.

G&W-Tango 59203 c/w it rust stained front-end due to corroded window frames creeps up through Clink with '6A24' the 10:18 from Whatley Quarry going up to Oxford Banbury Road.After coming home fron a week in sunny Majorca the temperature here of just 20 degrees feels quite chilly!

G&W 59202 crawls over Clink Road Junction working very slowly indeed with the very heavy '6L21' 12:21 from Whatley going to Dagenham Dock.The tightness of the curve here as the Station loop line joins the mainline makes this loaded 38 hopper train a huge test for a single 59/2!

59201 still wears DB-Red livery but is due to enter Eastleigh Works very soon to get its G&W tango makeover. Here it is seen passing Cresswell Down (just west of Bratton) with '7C60' the 11:29 from Brentford Town to Merehead returning empty hoppers.
